Robot Wars returning to BBC2!

yea can't argue with that, enjoyed this series... Interesting to see what they might come up with next year!

TBH the formula hasn't changed much over the years. Flippers and spinners still dominate and, at the end of the day, the best robots are just modern variants of either Hypnodisc or Chaos 2 :)

I thought it was good, shows how much energy is in those spinners when part of aftershock went thru the wall. I wish they would attach house robots tho that would be fun. Good to see carbide worked out all those kinks, a launch like that in the previous series would have disabled their bot.

Why wasn't razor in this year? TBH theses spinners would destroy it i think, the days of razor were all basic robots like wedges and other gimmicks

Probably still embarrassed at how quickly they got put out last year :p And yeah, i think it would get totally demolished by these new spinners.

tombstone has a muh more powerful weapon doesn't it, its also heavier being american?

much better episode now the dross was eliminated.

but can they fix the issues for next season, mainly the format and the crap bots.

It would be nice if they actually had a decent amount of time to repair after each fight, maybe then we would see more destruction rather than holding back.

Been watching this with my 5 year old who loves it. I remember watching it as a kid and wanting to build something. I think my son feels the same which is cool.

A couple of things bug me about the format though, the main one being that the initial group battles are totally pointless. I think quite a few decent machines went out in the first round because of bad luck. And that's it for them, game over. Too harsh when you think of the amount of effort people go to.

Personally i think it shouldn't just be about 'the fight'. I'd like to see tug of war return (remember that?!). And simmer other driver skill challenges that can weed out the poorer robots before putting them against each other

I see that some people were upset that carbide and others didn't completely destroy their opponents. I think it's very good sportsmanship. All the teams put in a massive amount of time, effort and money and it would be heart breaking to see your robot totally decimated when it's defenceless.

One question remains now, how to beat the spinners? Very low ground clearance? Damage absorbing armour (something mesh-like that's catches and stops the spinning bar - wedging the opponent in your machine)? Something fast and manoeuvrable that can get round the back and flip it? Something that can take a huge amount of punishment, so the spinners might tear themselves apart?

I want a robot wars computer game. :D
