Robot Wars returning to BBC2!

These are mere RC cars on steroids not Defiant or Intrepid class ships.

Ablative armour just means the armour degrades as a designed part of the protective process. If you want bits that come off to jam spinners then that is ablative armour.

I understand what you're saying but my comment (in jest) was more along the lines of a robot with a giant mop-like covering. Instead of cotton, the threads could be Kevlar based, so that when the spinner hits the body of the bot it draws a thread in to the center of the spinner.

I think it would work a treat against the bar spinners not so much against the drums, as they tend to have minimal clearance between the body of the robot and the drum.

Would be interesting to see Warhead in this though they would have to ditch its flame emitters. Is it not a bit too heavy though? I thought it was over the weight limit for the uk show.

They are 250 pounds which comes out at 113 kg. I imagine trying to shave off 3kgs wouldn't be too hard.

I don't think this would ever get past health and safety. I've been to the Kevlar plant in Northern Ireland and strands of Kevlar are handled very differently to a weave. On account of them being so incredibly thin, but also so incredibly strong, that they'd cut flesh very easily. Any risk of Kevlar being unwoven in the arena would get quickly vetoed by BBC health and safety.

I've seen that mentorn (the production company) have singed to use the warehouse to film for other three years. More series on the horizon it seems. :D
I'd bet now the infrastructure is there, as long as it isn't too much to rent (if it's rented) it doesn't cost much as it can be filmed so quickly

I'd be pretty sure it gets stripped down and rebuilt between series.

No one watching the final?!

Glad Apollo are gone. Don't agree with allowing a defeated team back in on a wild-card as the other teams would be rightly aggrieved if it won.

Awful lot depends on driving & control and whether one can get round the back of the other. Weapon-to-weapon is anyone's guess and often breaks the arena :D

Yeah they're almost playing it "too fair". You need to be brutal and do as much damage as you can.

Credit to Eruption for going for it though.
