Rockclimbing!!

I'm 7 weeks in now and been going 2 or 3 times a week. Getting through a lot of the 6A & 6B stuff (v3, v4) and working on a couple of 6c (v5) Fun, but very difficult.

It is interesting going to different climbing places though as the problems are very different. Been mainly climbing at Citybloc in Leeds but also been to Leeds wall, Depot Leeds, Depot Nottingham and going to Climbing works in Sheffield on Sunday for the first time - http://www.climbingworks.com/

I think my next purchase will be some crash mats. Get myself outside for some proper none hand shredding bouldering. I got back earlier and have a blister on a blister

You will shred your hands outside! rips the skin more, depending on the holds, so much more grippy though. My hands are immune indoors now it seems!

Shred doesn't come close if you're doing on granite! Limestone won't be too bad though. Also be prepared to climb at a lot lower grade than inside, 6b is doable for me inside but outside V2 will be a worked grade. And I know they are graded the same as the FA of the problems were done by the guys I climb with.

Can you get in to climbing on your own, or do you always need a second person to belay? Probably a stupid question lol.

Just cause I wanted to start climbing with my little brother, so we went to a "family lesson" at my local wall and because he is a lot younger than me wouldn't let him hold the rope for me, so I didn't get to climb at all only him.

Just wondering if theres a way I could climb aswell cause he really enjoyed it but I don't want to pay to go just to belay for him.

Unless your wall has an auto-belay there is no way to rope climb without 2 people.

What about trying bouldering? Most walls have a bouldering area which you can do solo. It is a different style of climbing though, usually with fewer moves that are more technical or require close to maximum strength/power.

The Keel at almscliff. Goes at V10 Font 7c+. By far the hardest thing I've done, have tried it on and off for many years.

Off to Font in two weeks, it'll be my 8th trip. Looking to climb 7a there as that's the hardest I've done there. Font is amazing but it puts uk grades to shame. A 7a there is worth a grade or two back in the uk, easily.

I think I've had a go at Graviton before. Is that the one at Roche Sabots in Trois Pignons? Horrible round reachy slapped topout? I'll have a look at it next month.

Tell me about it, we we're being shut down by 6a's all over the place!:(

Yeah, Graviton is the one with the horrible top out which is clearly the 7a move as the first part is simple. It's opposite the dyno problem, Smash. Both in Sabots.

A mate of mine sent L'Oblique F7a but the dyno was easy for him as he is a lanky ******.

You're too right. The climbing is perfect, I could spend the rest of my life there but it'd be upsetting getting spanked by 6a's and 6b's constantly! I consider myself a decent enough boulderer but by font standards I'm decidedly average. Still love the place. I think I'll be going there every year until I die.

Arghh i havent been climbing for like a month, been MTB'ing and working! Everytime i start making progress i seem to stop or get distracted. Gonna be hard to get it back now :/ Altho i spose a good 2 weeks of solid climbing and i should be back to progressing just need to be prepared to fail and fall a lot again!

I think next time I go abroad for bouldering I'll be looking to go to Albarracin in Spain. The grades are more comparable to gym climbing (apparently) and the weather is generally nicer than France. Also it is a lot cheaper for food, camping and car hire.

Here is me sucking on Graviton.

took a few videos of me bouldering today whilst nobody was about.. the first video im doing the yellow problem filming from the otherside
