Rockclimbing!!

Considering the G12 have never been used if the boots aren't perfect they can be sold on but I felt it was worth a punt.
Damn Citylink can't find my work now so I've gotta go for a drive to get them. Funny how they can't since they used to hold my company's delivery contract and would be here daily with lorries!

Mmmmm shiny! Now planning to amble round the house and maybe the office to bed the boots in.

Just found out I entered a bouldering comp a couple weeks ago. Came 7th!
Considering I thought I'd stop at V2 and then managed to do all the V3 and one V4 I'm well pleased with the result.

Climbing

Hey all,

Does anyone here climb in their spare time? I've been to a few outdoor activity centres and (if anyone knows it) Blue Peris and I absolutely loved the climbing side of things, I've always loved climbing trees and such like, but climbing up those rock faces in Wales really was a whole new experience; one that I'd love to do again!

So - How would I go about getting into climbing as an actually hobby and any idea where I could start taking lessons to get my technique correct?

Thanks ;)

Looking at around a 4 and a half hour drive! :(

I'm unsure if there is a climbing centre nearby.. Anyone know the Milton Keynes area at all? I think that will be the most likely place for a climbing centre for me.

My mate goes there, says its excellent :)

Edit: Best thing to do is see if they do a beginners club or something. Alternatively book an intro session and go from there with it.

What about local climbing clubs, rather than centres?

I'd have to have a look to see if there are any nearby :)

This is exactly what I'm looking for! That is perfect, thanks a lot. :D I'll have to have a look into this and see what they offer!

I got into climbing last year and absolutely love it, both bouldering and top rope.
I live in London so can't really recommend anything local to you but I intend to try the Nexus Community wall in Amersham which isnt too far and The Castle in London is amazing!
My brother and I started out with an induction lesson to learn the basics, hired gear for a few sessions, then I bought my own harness, belay and shoes so we can just turn up and climb without worrying about uncomfortable gear.
If you can find a good bouldering place near you thats a great way to practice on your own.

Thanks for the tips m0rte :)

Hopefully I can convince my brother to start with me so I have someone to go with, I imagine it's a lot more fun if you're with someone rather than being on your own... :(

I'll definitely check out Amersham once I get started! :)

First got into climbing age 18 and last year took it back up aged 29.

We have a brilliant selection of climbing centre's in Stoke, with a 4th opening in March. Each offers something different with excellent bouldering, top rope, lead and traverse provisions.

Awesome Walls - Bouldering, Cave, Traverse and training area
Audley Climbing Centre - Bouldering and Top Rope
Jubilee - Top Rope wall that covers three floors
Kiln Worx - New centre opening in March offering Lead/Top Rope i believe

Also we are only 20 minutes drive from the peak disrict which offers 100's of climbs all mapped in the peak district climbing guide.

Pop over into the sports sub forum, there is a couple climbing ones there.
The is a big wall in Milton Keynes afaik, and if it is what I'm thinking of it's mega.
Turn up by yourself and get chatting, can always find people to climb with.

Since moving to London I've sort of given up skydiving (:() and taken up climbing instead. It's great fun and an excellent workout. I enjoy both bouldering and top rope and outdoors I've done a bit of trad and sport climbing.

Here's a few piccys from outdoors :D
