Yup, I get this too, I tried again today. Already dropped all the way back down to the lowest division. 20 games played, 19 consecutive losses. 11 of those 19 losses had someone quit as soon as we were 2 goals behind, leaving the match as a 3 v 2. 2 of the matches actually had 2 people leave , ending up with it being 1 (me) v 3. Everyone just screams about at max speed everywhere, pushing their own teammates out of the way in a desperate attempt to be the person who scores the goal and gets the points.

Totally had enough with the game and have now uninstalled it. Game itself is decent enough but the people who play it are total *******. I thought that public servers in FPSes were pretty bad but this game takes it to a whole new level of bad.

That's why i stick to ranked/competitive matches, still get the idiots but people don't leave as then they get matchmaking banned.
 
Bit of an over-reaction no? The community in Rocket League at the lower ranks is absolutely awful, but there's several easy solutions...

1. Find 2 other people to play with instead of jumping in games with randoms... They don't even need to be your best mates or anything, add a few people from this thread and see if they want to play a few games sometime... when you do encounter someone who isn't an awful teammate - add them and see if they want to play again later...

2. Play solo 1v1 - no team-mates, no problem - this is also a useful stopgap when your new friends from option (1) aren't around

3. Stop caring so much... try to win even when your team-mates screw you over. It sucks a bit but if you learn anything at all from coping in horrible 3v2 or 3v1 situations imagine what that will do for your skills when you play with your friends from option (1) or against a single opponent in option (2)

The game is clearly meant to be a focused team experience, so soloing it with randoms against teams of potentially 3 friends with voice comms will always be a less than fair situation...
 
I went off of this briefly for a few weeks but then started playing again and am hooked. I just want to get better and it drives me to keep playing. You see the matches amongst top players and realise the game isnt as random as it seems when you are new, we are simply bad at the game. I currently live for being able to pull of sick freestyle aerials, can currently only do bog standard straight ones :)
 
My God 1v1's are boring. Having quite a blast in 2v2 ranked with my mate, although the first 10 matches we played it was literally 8-0 everygame to us. 3v3 ranked solo is actually pretty decent, only had 1 kiddy so far who decided to hurl abuse but the reporting system fixes that I feel.
 
Anyone fancy helping a n00b improve their game? Getting slaughtered online and frustrates the hell out of me. Supposed to be a fun game to play but its anything but for me.

I play 3v3 for about 2 hours every day and there's no improvement.

I found the tutorial/practice challenges helped a lot. You need to get your aerial skills down to get to the ball first.

I found the tutorial/practice challenges helped a lot. You need to get your aerial skills down to get to the ball first. Also, make sure you use ball cam

Yeah did the tutorials but really struggled with the double jump then boosting one and still do especially in game. I see people doing it from one goal to the other easy and I can't even hit the ball in a straight line :o

Don't double jump, just jump once and boost.

A few of the links are meant for advanced players, but most seem to be aimed at beginners
 
Its free to play this weekend guys if no one has it, ive just DL it and its cracking fun can see myself buying it, its currently down to 8.99 on steam too
