Game Features
Introducing the next stage in the evolution of the guitar game. Rocksmith™, the first and only game where you can plug ANY real guitar into your PC/MAC, Xbox 360® or PlayStation®3 system, and actually learn while you play.

When we say any guitar we mean any guitar.
Whether it's the guitar sitting in your attic, your cherished faithful steed, or the guitar you have yet to buy, Rocksmith lets you plug any guitar into your PC/MAC, Xbox 360® or PlayStation®3 system.

Difficulty settings that adapt to your ability.
You love a challenge, but hate being overwhelmed. With addicting gameplay that adapts to your personal skill level, you will automatically progress from single notes to complex chords at your own pace. You'll be playing 100% of the real guitar parts from the songs in the game.

Lots of music. Lots of styles.
One of the most satisfying moments for any guitar player is hearing yourself play your favorite song for the first time. Rocksmith has amassed an amazing library of songs from different music genres allowing players to experience that moment first hand.

Play songs instead of just learning them.
You want to play new songs, but you don't want to labor through tablature or cringe through poorly produced videos. No problem. Rocksmith will not only present you with new songs, but will also challenge you to step away from the notes on screen and play songs by memory.

Masses of effects pedals, amps, and cabs.
Turn your console into an amplifier and play with loads of in-game effects pedals, amplifiers, and cabinets. String pedals together with nearly infinite combinations and tweak your sound until you're satisfied. Whether it's a crunchy distortion, a vintage tremolo, or a psychedelic reverb, we have the gamut covered to make sure you can achieve the sound you're looking for.

Develop real skills with mini-games.
There will be a wide variety of mini-games that will challenge you to hone in on specific skills. Whether its scales, or finger dexterity you want to improve on, our mini-games will have you covered, and addicted.

Get plugged in.
Rocksmith will include a unique quarter-inch to USB cable that is the first of its kind, and will allow users to plug any real guitar with a quarter-inch jack directly into their PC/MAC, Xbox 360® or PlayStation 3®. Developed exclusively for Rocksmith, this guitar cable is 11.25' cable turns the guitar's signal from analog to digital, allowing it to be recognized and played through video game consoles for the first time.

I'm really looking forward to this. Preorder copy shipped yesterday, so I'm hoping it arrives tomorrow. I played guitar a lot as teenager, but then life happened. Ended up buying a new guitar last year, and very slowly getting back into playing, really hoping this game encourages me to practise more.

My copy came today. Had a wee play at lunch time, rather impressed with it so far.

Made a thread on this last night which got thoroughly ignored, so I'll just ask in here :p

Does it play more like one of the standard guitar games where it's really just pushing buttons in time, or does it teach techniques, fingering and chords etc.?

I've got an old electric sat around from when I had a few lessons at school, and thought this could be an interesting/fun way to get back into it.

To a certain extent it has the same sort of game play but it's is completely different, there's no buttons to press on a real guitar. ;)

And yes it does teach techniques and stuff, I think after I get a hang of the coloured strings it'll be great.

Should have it here tomorrow, too. Really looking forward to getting back into it. I used to be a pretty good player back in high school, but as soon as I hit Uni drinking and gaming took over... and it's stayed that way ever since!

Now I suck, so will be starting all over again and hoping this will be a great tool to help unlock what I once had.

Not looking forward to impending finger pain and developing the calluses all over again, though! :D

I really enjoyed my 90 minutes on it last night. :)

I got my copy from Shopto, it said it had "exclusive DLC" anyone any idea what it is ?

I'm looking forward to getting this :) I should have my copy come monday or so. I've been playing guitar for the last 6-7months now. While I'm ok my muscle memory is not so hot. Hopefully this will give a bit more assistance with that.

Theres some pretty good tracks on the setlist. Looking forward to learning Song 2 - Blur :D

I'm really enjoying this game so far.
It has helped me get back into playing the guitar again.

The fact that you have the tabs, and backing music at the same time is a bonus, instead of having to look at the tabs on paper and try to match them to the song.

The adaptive difficulty is very useful too, allowing you to learn the basics of a song and then gradually building up the filler notes and then chords.

Does anyone know if we will have access to the full list of DLC as the US anytime soon?

How hard/advanced does the game get? :)

It seems to have a dynamic difficulty that starts off pretty basic and will progress to playing the whole song properly note for note over the course of a couple of plays of the track if you're playing well enough.

Got it for bass and I'm really enjoying it so far, the technique stuff and mini games are a nice touch and there are some fun songs in there too. DLC is pretty thin on the ground in the EU at the moment but they say the stuff already out in the US will be with us at some point.

Got the PS3 version and I've been messing around with the demo of the PC version up on steam and that seems to be shaping up pretty nicely.

Managed to spend a few hours playing this over the weekend. I'm impressed. The guitarcade games are fun, and will really help with muscle memory.

Playing the songs is frustrating me a little. My normal learning style is to have the sheet music or tab, and a copy of the song, and just repeat it slowly until learnt. This game jars a bit, as the dynamic scaling increases the difficulty to my point of incompetence, so I keep being left feeling as if I have failed. Though I'm scoring more than enough points to pass the section. I suppose I could just use the accelerator to learn the songs in my normal manner, but I'm trying to work with it the way it is.

I've also been confused by the introduction of new techniques. It will just throw them into a song with no warning... you suddenly get some new symbols and no idea what it is expecting you to do with them. Only after you have screwed it up does it bring up the new technique section, and you find out what it wanted you to do. Gits.

The DLC has annoyed me, the in-game news feed keeps telling me about all the brilliant DLC thats available, and then its not. Even with the stuff that is there its a bit ****ed up. All the megadeth track state that they are part of a pack, a pack which you have no option to buy.

Having stated all my whinges, don't assume that I'm not enjoying it. My callouses are sawn off and my fingers are numb. Probably the most I have ever practised in one weekend.

Sounds like people are enjoying it then and its worth a buy.

I kind of gave up playing the Guitar and have forgotten most of what I was taught, so this seems like a good way of getting back into it again.

Agreed on pretty much all points. I'm really seeing how much skill I've lost -- hell, I can't even keep up a palm-muted rolling triplet "gallop" anymore. :(

Looking forward to getting back to that point, though. Played for about a total of 6 hours over the weekend... fingertips are red and sore and you're totally right about the songs randomly throwing in symbols before the explanation of what they are. Seeing the pull-off and hammer-on symbols for the first time I was like "What is that? Huh?" Then realised because the notes were always close together, what it had to be.

Also needing to get used to the chart. I can be playing along with a song just fine in terms of riff, but then a full chord or barre shows up and my brain just can't figure it out fast enough. Then again, I guess that's what the phrase practice bit is all about.

The DLC ticker on the menu is annoying me as well, if only because it constantly reminds of the much better material currently available in the US. Just a bit of patience needed there, really.

My guitar also makes an annoying hum if I have the volume up above around 2/3rds, but I haven't tested it with an amp in yonks so likely an electrical issue with the guitar itself rather than the cable or anything.

It does tell you how to minimise lag, so dependant on your setup it may not be an issue.

The tuner seems pretty decent, although you need to tune up EVERY time you play a tune !

well i've look at getting the ps3 bungle kit as once i got that it simple buy game on steam if i want to play it on pc as the cable will work with xbox/pc/mac/ps3
