Rocksmith

Bought this for PC a few days ago. Originally I never considered buying it because I knew the interface lag would be terrible (as it is with these things.) However I stumbled across it again online and after reading many reviews and watching lots of videos, I concluded that the lag didn't seem to be that big a thing and so I took the plunge and bought it.

And so I instantly find the input-lag is just terrible and after about 20 minutes of playing (part of which was me searching online for ways of reducing it) I regretted buying it. Not having a direct connection between my fingers and ear is weird and confuses me if I continue to play because the notes are delayed while my playing is far ahead.

I wanted to like it, but I just can't get over it :(

Aw man, that sucks. :( I wouldn't even know where to begin when it came to reducing the lag via PC. :(

On a lighter note, my Schecter Hellraiser Special arrived today. Beautiful piece of work.

I'm really tempted by this. From reading the early reviews and looking at the patch notes, it sounds like they have patched out a lot of the annoying features putting people off the training modes. So is it worth it now?

im very tempted with this as my guitar playing has dropped a lot in the last few years.

has anyone tried the game with an EMG equipped guitar as im afraid the high output would cause an issue.

also whats the selection of metal like as i play mainly 90%+ metal or this could be a good chance for me to improve my overall technique as power chords, pinch harmonics and drop tuning will only get me so far, my chord knowledge and any sort of classical technique is terrible.

but number 1, how bad is lag as when playing through a pc even 40ms latency causes no end of problems when trying to play along with a track

I'm tempted to get this too but put off by the whole lag thing...prob gonna give it a go for 35 quid tho

is the lag still present on the console versions ?

I'd think you'll need a good soundcard to stop the lag on a pc.....I have a midi keyboard I use with ableton and can only stop any lag when using an external soundcard (podxt)

Did you follow the configuration guide for setting it up? The lag should barely be more noticeable than playing through an amp if you're on a decent system and lower the audio buffer as advised.

EMG 81 and 85 here, and no problems whatsoever with volume up full. On my Kramer with dual coils I get tons of noise if I go above half volume, but the EMGs are spot on with the game.

I've enjoyed it so much on Xbox I'll be grabbing it for PC, too, this weekend so can report back regarding the lag. I'll be playing it on my laptop with headphones, so no amp or anything involved there.

How are people getting on with this???

Ive only got my mac...so id have to buy the PC version and use Win7 via VMware. Pretty concerned about the lag aspect and the fact that I havent seen any min-pc specs anywhere.

Its either take the plunge on mac/PC...or wait until xmas and get a ps3.

Forgot to report back, but I've had very little issues with lag when playing on my laptop. So little, in fact, that I haven't bothered trying to recalibrate it or anything.

I havent really noticed any lag either. I think if you just go by the sound anyway you should be fine.

I've heard there are some problems with the ps3 version crashes and long load times.

You have more room to adjust things on the pc I think.

Loving this so far. Having some sore finger issues, which is new experience for me with guitars. Having tried almost every year for the last 30 to learn to play and failed miserably every time. Left it for a couple of days after an initial burst of activity, spent 30 mins on the arcade practice section before picking up where I left off to find I'd improved!
I improved!!! Sore fingers again now :) (and is anyone suffering from rocking out a bit to much (if nobody is watching you of course)?)

Bought this for PC in the Amazon sale today.. I'm intrigued to see how I get on with it.

I've owned a guitar for quite a few years but never fully embraced it. Probably at intermediate level, but never had any lessons. Will report back once I've had a chance to try it out.

Is there just as much bass guitar content (songs etc) as there is guitar content?

Or is it a bit of an afterthought?

Only played it briefly using bass with the wife, but there appear to be bass tracks for every song in the base game. Haven't tried it with any of the DLC, but one would assume it's included there, too.

Is it better to get the pc version? Can you do things like download free songs on pc, or use songs from your cd collection?

I've found both versions to be pretty identical in operation, except as Calabi says the PC version has slightly more options to combat audio lag.

You can't load your own music or anything in the PC edition, though the DLC is obviously easier to obtain via less than authentic methods compared to console.
