ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO

I could be wrong about the lights, just restarted the PC and lights did not come on until I logged in to Windows? They definitely did work before I installed the software?

Ah OK so they only work once in Windows and once you have installed the software?

My crosshair with 1001 and h100i v2 installed sees a CPU temp of 28/29 in the bios. This is a 1700.
It might be worth noting that i went to a small independent computer repair shop earlier and picked up an AM3 backplate from a dead motherboard as the one from the rainforest wasn't secure enough for my liking.

No, they worked before installing the software, it was just random colours. I just did a full shut down and they come on as soon as the power does, don’t know why they don’t on a restart?

Yes I think that's the problem I think I have I think it was also from the rain forest

I will have to read up or contact NZXT about the Hue+

So hopefully mine showing high 40s low 50s is with the +20. Temp is the same in the bios as it is playing rl for a few rounds.

is it ryzen bricking all these boards or a poor design by asus?
I didn't overclock mine. It was a 1700X running at stock speeds. Even the 3600Mhz ram was working at 2133 profile.
The main issue was not stability etc but the damn motherboard having a fit every so often, by just restarting the PC as happened earlier last night and took me an hour to make it boot. But the second time it just died the moment I was playing WOT, after I had watched the 8K video everyone was raving about. Everythined tried on it, was coming up with error 8 and thats it. (fans were spinning).

Maybe you will be luckier like everyone else. However I ended up on the 50% of the failures and bricked motherboards.

However 22 years I am building and overclocking my own new PCs every 8-12 months, and having build hundreds for clients over the years, first time I am experiencing such issues. Except once around 2005-6 with another Asus board, but not that severe issue, managed to stabilize my clients PC after BIOS update and he hadn't reported to me back with issues.

Don't get me wrong. The product and tech is great, see all the others having their systems overclocked chewing every task on their path.

Who's using the extra CPU 4pin? I am only using the 8pin and no problems so far.

I just have the 8 pin as that's all I had on the last board and I don't think I have another extension cable. I don't think the 4 pin is needed from what I have read.

Couple of hours of RL (I know its not the most cpu intensive game) but my temp is the same as it is on desktop.

This is what it says for 08

System Agent initialization after microcode loading

8 is different to 08. I did see it mention somewhere on the overclockers.net forum topic about this board but i cant remember what is is now. I had it when i flashed my board to 1001 and had to clear my bios to fix it.

Still can't get sli to work at all, I've tried gpus in both slots and they work fine. But as soon as i put both of my cards in together i get the b2 error so im completely baffled.

I updated the bios to the one on the Asus site can't remember the number 02 or something and it seemed to work fine after I cleared the bios shame my cooler didn't fit properly so very pi**ed off

B2 is Legacy Option ROM Initialization

What ever that means

Seems strange but didn't get a motherboard i/o back plate in the box if I contact Asus will they send me one
