ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO

My rams fine but my overclocks gone a bit weird as settings have changed with this bios I cant get it above 3.5ghz and my cpu voltage keeps going to offset.

Found the problem in advanced mode(Asus optimal) set it to normal and it works fine bit silly though.

Change you ram v to 1.37v and the ram boot to same this sorted it for me ,I have the same ram.

I've tried both RAM voltage and boot voltage at 1.4v and still I get issues (on occasion) where it won't always boot up from cold. It does the on, off, on > boot up issue.

I think it's an issue with the BIOS itself as like I say, it doesn't always do it.

I'll give that advanced setting you mention above a go though and see how I get on.

Ta!

Have you put the ram in the gray slots I read the board should be set this way with only 2 sticks of ram.

I found that changing the training mode under the amd menu to 8 worked for me, can take a couple of tries at the start but then boots at the set speed

What BIOS are you using? 9920 is the one to use IMO, especially if you have this issue as it handles the RAM training on POST differently.

9920 is good, I have stuck with this over the later 'official' one. It puts my memory at 3200 14-14-14-34-75-1T which could be improved a touch but feels fast. That is at a modest 3.6 OC all cores.

1501

* Workaround for some CPUs stuck at 22x ratio if using override voltage
* Fixes PCIEX4 bandwidth setting getting lost after power is removed
* Same DRAM boot behavior as 1403 (no cold boot fix)
* Same DRAM profiles as in 9920
* Still has the Vcore value issue when booting with Offset Mode and switching to Manual Mode

UEFI build 9920 for the C6H:

* Improved DRAM cold boot, results in slightly longer POST time
* Fix for CPU Ratio stuck at 22x on some CPUs when using Vcore override/offset
* SenseMi Skew is now Disabled by default. If you want to return to previous behavior set SenseMi Skew = Enabled and Offset = 272.
* Added DRAM profiles for Samsung B-based DIMMs with tuned subtimings, including The Stilt's settings

1501 did the same with 1403,so whats the 9920 do that these ones don't?

9920 is a test/beta BIOS that memory trains with SPD before it applies the RAM settings, thus solving (working around) the cold boot issue. This has not been included in the "Official" BIOS yet, likely to come in the next one, but there's also talks of the next big BIOS to include AGESA 1.0.0.7.

9920 seems to be the favourite among many at the moment.

I have just gone to 9920 bios, I'm still getting cold boot problems, takes 2 attempts before it boots.
I have 2 sticks of 8gb gskill trident z
Any ideas please?

Exactly what RAM is it and what're your settings? You can export them from the BIOS to a txt file and post here (in spoiler tags so to not take up a massive space).
Have a USB drive attached, Enter Bios and go to Asus Overclocking Profile and Save Profile to USB Drive. You can save it as a txt file.

1601/1602 coming online soon but nothing too exciting, updated AGESA 1006b but no major improvements. We're waiting for 1007 before next release here, which would include the improvements in 9920.
