The only reason we are soing to struggle without him is as well as Owen he's the only attacking player of any kind that Sven knows how to use.

Lampard has scored as many goals in the Premiership as Rooney has this season, Bent has scored MORE goals in a much worse team, Gerrard has scored more in total but less in the prem as Rooney has.

So we there have 2 players that have scored more or the same as Rooney in the Prem and one is a midfielder.

If we play a proper blanced side then ronneys injury will not hurt that much as he as of yet is not a prolific goalscorer, and until he breaks 20 consistantly neither will he be prolific.

Play Bent and Owen up front, with 2 actual wingers of Downing on the left and Lennon on the right, then stick lampard and Gerrard in the middle with clear instructions that Gerrard is to sit and Lampard to get forward like he does, then that has as much if no more chance of doing well that the inbalanced side we are putting out, with Rooney having to save us because of Svens tactical ineptitude.

You could even play a 4-5-1 With Bent/Owen upfront on their own, Ledley King sitting behind the midfield as a defensive midfielder allowing both Gerrard and Lampard to go forward to support the striker, again with 2 attacking wingers in Downing and Lennon. Or even pop Joe Cole behind the striker and drop one of Lampard and Gerrard if it's not working. Then you have Carrick as well to come on.

We have to for once pick players on form rather than name, beckham has been doing ok in a side that is a mess, Lennon has been playing very well in a good side, Lennon will carry great form into the Wc, while Beckham will carry average form into the world cup as well as not actually being a decent out and out winger.

We have a great set of players to pick 11 players from one countrys side that can match or beat the ability of our players is not an easy task, there are the odd one or two that you can pick as better, but as an 11 man unit even without Rooney it's not easy to find a team that has the ability of ours.

We play any other team in the world at our game with it's very high tempo, quick movement and ability, we can beat anyone, but Sven seems to try to play other sides at their own game which is much slower paced then we will lose, but then we would do so with Rooney as well. Close them down, strangle their space and they simply are not all that, Ronaldinho being one of very few examples, but then you can play him out of games like Milan did in the first leg of the Cl semi if you stifle his space he doesn't like it, Stick Gerrard in his face all game and he may do something special, but he will only do it once and that means that they have to capitalise on that, and if they don't then they will struggle, give him space and he will rape you on his own, get tight and he may well put in an average performance like he did against Milan.

Play this side and without rooney we have a chance,

Gk - Robinson
Lb - Cole
Rb - Neville
Cb - Terry
Cb - Ferdinand/Brown
Dm - King
Lm - Downing
Rm - Lennon/SWP
Cm - Gerrard
Cm - Lampard
Cf - Owen/Bent

Even go for a 4-4-2 with Bent and Owen up top, but with clear instructuions the Gerrard is to sit.

it won't happne like this as well Sven seems determined to play a right footer on the left wing and will never drop his love child Beckham.

Mainly because i like wingers who can beat, players, break inside and offer support for the attack, not two trick ponies who can hit free kicks and cross and that is it. beckham can't beat players with any certainty at all, has been playing alright in a team that is in complete disaray and has from what i've seen been poor. beckham can barely beat left backs from the weak spansih sides, what hope has he got against anyone good ??

Or i could pick a winger who has been hurting teams that are much better than anything in spain bar Barca, Real got thoroughly outplayed by the team that is 5th best in the Prem. Lennon has been giving far better full backs a torrid time, and beckham slows the game to a walking pace, we need player who can get the ball and get to the by-line and get balls in quick to exploit the pure pace of Bent, Owen and the likes.

For the first time in a long while for quality i'd say the prem craps all over la ligua, apart from barca, i'd back almost any prem side to beat te spanish side in the equivelent position without too much trouble.

I like the look of Lennon, but do agree with some of the other posts in this thread - that he is still very untried & think it's too soon to be putting that much faith in him in a major tournament.

For me, at the moment he's a potential squad player - nothing more.

I believe the Oxygen chamber just helps reduce the decline in fitness from not exercising. I dont think it actually makes the bone heal quicker, it will just speed up the time he needs to get fit again afterwards.

No, its something to do with red blood cells and actually speeding up the process of repairing the bone. Its not proven YET. But like Fergie said "it will do no harm".
