Yeah like the sun know.
Then halfway down the page from their revelation about his wages..
"The amazing pay deal - once bonuses are included - will keep him as a Red Devil until 2015."
Yeah but, a million a year is 20k a week , so lets say he's on a "normal" £120k a week deal, that would mean his bonuses for say winning the league the champs league, a cup or two and getting the golden boot are in the region of 5-6 mil.
He's probably on around Toure money, with not that big a bonus. As others stated, he probably had "negotiations" with other clubs, told Utd what he'd get elsewhere said he'd only stay if the money matched it.
Utd are mental, if he's even on £150k a week before bonuses, firstly, he's not worth it, he's no where near that good, just very decent + English. Secondly, it utterly rips up the wage structure, which come renegotiations with other players, and even worse, new players, will be awful for the club. Considering their lack of profitability, and the Uefa rules, UTD can't afford insane wages that a few other clubs with some creative accounting and creative inputs of cash can afford.
More than anything it highlights the massive massive need for a wage limit in football and to a lesser degree, transfer limits.
Chelsea increased their own wage quite dramatically, but didn't go around making people £150k+ a week instantly, City and their massive wages have caused the greedy pratt that is Rooney to milk Utd for all he can. Utd made a MASSIVE mistake giving in to him. Ronaldo, Messi, they might be worth that kind of cash, Rooney isn't even close to as good.
