Root Beer

i was working at Mc'ds when they switched over to coca cola. people were going mental when we said we didnt sell root beer any more. At least i didnt have to say " thats mcdonalds coke " any more when they ordered a coke.

Was in Tescos the other week and bought a bottle of alcoholic root beer from the people that make Koppaberg cider. Thought I should bring it to the root beer fans attention.

Most Chinese supermarkets sell a&w root beer and other stuff like mountain dew,etc

Got some Carters root beer today from Asda. Not a patch on A+W or Barqs or Mug. Save your 1.37 and get a can of A+W

My missus got a can of Watson's sarsae today (to try out) and it is root beer. No mention of it on the can though. It was around 80 something pence though so not so much of a bargain when you can get A+W from Wing Yip.

There's an Asda own brand soft drink called Doctor Thunder, I'm guessing it is supposed to be a clone of Dr Pepper but I've just tried some and it tastes more like a cross between Dr Pepper and Root Beer, it definately has that antispetic cream after taste thing going on. Quite strange really.

Sainsburys around here used to sell it a few years ago. It was their own brand, but it was 59p for a 2 litre bottle so you couldn't complain!
Sadly they stopped.

When you go to places in the USA, and get root beer on tap, such as in a pub or at Disneyland, is there a brand the root beer will always be? Is it like coke in that it'll always be Coca Cola or Pepsi, or would it be any old brand they've got hold of?

It'll probably be Barq's as they're owned by Coca Cola.

Doctor Thunder is the worst thing to have ever passed my lips. And I've been mouth raped.

Yeah, ever, already read about root beer in US comics growing up, never had any in SA, just the same vile ginger beer that is available over here, blergh.
