Rosie Jones

She as been on bbc woman's hour programme saying a few of the other disabled contributors have pulled out, mainly because of the use of the Retard word, and it being so prominent.
It's not surprising really is it? What a silly title. It would be like Beadle making a documentary about his claw hand and calling it "Am I a spastic?". They are two totally unrelated things.

Edit: turns out she has used the word before as an insult herself:

yes heard some - that interview, was unfortunately , first programme in which I could understand her words - which as vincent said are usually indecipherable, (maybe you get accustomed, like some of the call centres)
On tv comedy shows, accidentally watch bites of, to confirm they are junk, I think comedians and (canned) audience, laugh at one anothers jokes out of politeness.
Need more UK comedians - most of the Yank stuff doesn't work
Pot meet Kettle :p

Years ago channel 4 did a documentary by Darcus Howe called "Who you calling a N" (full er word was used in the title). I suspect this is being titled because of its similarity to that programme title.

Though the difference is in that documentary it was looking at how different minority groups are racist to each other. Howe is a Jamaican and he said he arrived in England and the first time he heard the word was an insult from a Somali to him. So that documentary was talking about the use of the word in the the BAME communties.

I've never heard the retard word used in all the time I was in the disabled schools (from 2 till 16). So it's not a word the disabled community use against each other. I think that is were the upset comes from. To hear the word being used by a disabled person against a disabled person.

What is it with this woman? I don't understand why she's constantly being hired for comedy shows when it's quite clear she's just not that funny. Add into the mix the fact that people struggle to understand what she's saying most of the time and it all becomes very irritating. I'm all for representation, but surely you've got to be good at the job you do? We now actively avoid TV that she's on.

Big fat quiz of the year was pretty painful with her sections.

We watched The Big Fat Quiz last night and my head dropped when I knew she was on.
I didn't understand a word she was saying and I felt as though the audience and other contestants were told when to laugh.
My eldest came in and she hadn't got a clue who she was, after five minutes she asked us if we could understand her and we both shook her heads.
Again she said it sounded like the audience and other contestants were being told to laugh at the right time.
I'm all for equal rights but I also think she's getting worse.
I find it hard to believe that people would pay money to go and see her live.

It's so annoying because she's ruining quite a few of the shows we used to watch. I also think she's got worse, I could at least decipher some of her dialect a few years ago, in more recent times though she's become a lot harder to understand.

Must be like christmas with Zaphod Beeblebrox
That would be an awesome few days.

She seems to have gotten even slower as her illness goes on. I'm sure she could be funny still but it's hard work listening to a sly one liner being delivered painstakingly slow over 20 seconds to a burst of fake laughter. M
