Royal Mail Strikes for the Next Two Weeks

You might be lucky and get deliveries tomorrow.

I've got a RMSD package waiting to be delivered, and the RM Track & Trace is saying it should be delivered before 1pm tomorrow, whereas today (when it should have been delivered) it just showed "no information".

Fingers crossed then.

Why dont you try nursing? Or medicine? Or any other job that has night/weekend shifts? The "anti-social" hours you have shown are nothing special. Lots of people i know catch trains to london at 7am and get back home at around 8. Those are anti-social hours. Working a local job from 4am isnt that bad.

I don't even know why I bother making posts sometimes when this forum seems to have the collective IQ of a goldfish when it suits people...

to be fair, you accept this when signing up, like i said, it's not something they suddenly spring on you, the time to complain is before you agree to do it, not after

I have to agree here.

Obviously being a postie you have to be up early, just like a milkman or a delivery driver.

My dad made £25k after quite a bit of overtime and he did shifts of 6am - 1pm,1pm - 9pm,9pm - 6am or 6am - 6pm or vice verca. Now doing 12 hours one week and changing shifts every week is hard on your sleep patterns!

He gets a ceratin amount extra for working antisocial hours aswell.

Can somebody tell me what a postie does that makes them so much more special than everybody else who works just above minimum wage on unskilled jobs?

Oh sorry, obviously the fact i dont feel sympathy for your working hours (which arent that terrible) makes me stupid.....

My working hours?

Have you even learnt to read yet?

Does it also not occur to you that there may even be other factors besides you know just working hours, that make mail delivery not quite a sunday stroll that you get paid for?

Please do explain?

My mate is up at 6am every day monday to friday and is home at 5pm. Hard work on building sites etc and gets about a grand a month.............think he would make an ideal postie.

Sorry, its late and i assumed (wrongly) you were refering to your own hours. However, i still dont see why the hours or the job of a postman deserve that pay.

My friend has been threatened with a knife for 'trespassing' on numerous occasions. Bitten by several dogs. Physically assaulted. Verbally Abused.

That sort of thing. I'd guess that sort of stuff happens to a lot of posties.

I've been asked for fights at work from customers and had some funny arguments. Have not yet been bitten by a dog though. :(

Dog bites are incredibly common, it's included in the 'training' on how best to attempt to deal with them.

That way being to stab them in the eye with a biro.

:D

I remember when my brother went on strike (he works at asda warehouse & only does weekend shifts). Anyway, the strike had been called off but no one got in touch to tell him so, so he missed a weekend of work and almost got fired. :o

will my delivery come tomorrow?

a mousemat only small but yet!

it better come.

will it?

No. Your postman will take it home, open it and be fragging n00bs big style whilst you wait anxiously in your house for the letterbox to flap.
