Royal Mail Strikes for the Next Two Weeks

Quoted for mutual ignorance more like.
The whole reason these people are striking is because their job security is in jeopardy.

What does that have to do with me and why am I and the general public having to pay for it?

Kudos to those that cross the picket line. Unions have lawyers and people who are paid to sort this stuff out and look after the workers, picketing builds nothing but resentment.

I've certainly recieved no mail today :(

Well nothing delivered by Royal Mail. OcUK/Citylink kindly delivered my new set of RAM

It's pretty irritating. It's not as if the RM service has been good recently anyway.

As said before, kudos to people that cross the picket line to work. Striking should be illegal.

I'm expecting something and this strike is a pain in the arse. Do RM employees think that the public supports them?
I can't see how they possibly could.

If I were to be unhappy with working conditions, I talk to my boss, and if things don't improve or change, I would simply find another job. Why do these selfish idiots have to try and hold the country to ransom? I hate trade unions, the power they wield, and their practises. We'd be far better off without them.

I planned on getting my new car on Friday - sent my loan agreement back yesterday by special delivery. If that doesn't arrive today, I don't know what I'm going to do!

I doubt it will:

The situation is complex, but our assessment of the strike for the remainder of this week is:

* We regret that there will be limited delivery services on Thursday 2nd August
* We will do all we can to delivery Special Delivery items, but Special Delivery guarantees, for both the 9am service and the Next Day service, will be suspended for items due to be delivered on Thursday 2nd August
* Parcelforce Worldwide’s guaranteed services will remain unaffected
* Royal Mail’s Branch Direct, Sameday and Door to Door services remain unaffected
* All other mail services will be subject to delay

I have a Special Delivery item dispatched yesterday, and was supposed to be delivered before 1pm today.

Nothing so far.

Ohh man, strikes like these get on me ****.

My parcel is a few days overdue now, still haven't got it :(

Maybe I should stop being a cheap ass and use couriers.

My special delivery (sunglasses, of utmost importance :p) arrived today at 7am but no sign of the regular mail.

Need my passport to come by 12pm tomorrow otherwise I can't fly. Got send "SD by 9am" yesterday at 9am in the morning. Worried to the max at the moment - it's not even got to the trackable stage yet!

I hate the ****s.

While I support the right of unions to exist and of workers to strike, I don't think that workers in essential services should be allowed to strike. I include the postal service in that category; they should not be allowed to hold the country to ransom like this.

They do an unskilled job. They should take what they bloody well get to be honest.

I've got a few items expected in the next few days so I doubt I'll see them until next Monday or Tuesday now.

I just hope that the government starts opening up the domestic delivery service more to companies other than Royal Mail. I think it'll be the only way that RM will be forced to sort this out.

Theres that much unemployment too that people would be queuing up to do the job. I dont agree with striking and never had.
I think if you work for a service that heavily impacts on the running of the country then you shouldnt have the right to strike.
If they want to strike like this then they dont deserve to work full stop, sack em , theres plenty more people out there that want to work.
These postal strikes are costing the country millions, and doing nothing for my xbox 360 gaming action (Waiting for games to arrive).
