RTX or no RTX

It's been said already in this thread that people are confused about what RTX is. And Despite two people explaining it, you still seem to be confused.

Games are built for Ray Tracing now. All the games out now that have Ray Tracing were made using Microsoft's DXR or Vulkan. If AMD had a Ray Tracing solution those games would be able to use it.

Suggest you read post number 34 by @LoadsaMoney Just in case you missed it.

not confused at all.Games built with ray tracing as the standard. not as an add on.

Last time I checked both new consoles had been fully confirmed, and both use RDNA2 GPUs.

Yeah, due to be released in 6-7 months. We're unlikely to see RDNA2 cards until next year sometime. And you have no idea what the price will be - both Sony and MS sell their hardware at a loss early in the console generation.

I love how you think RT is just a gimmick *until AMD release it*. LOL.

How do you turn on RTX?

The option is greyed out for me, it says the game must launch in DX12 to use RTX - but there is no menu option for DX12?

When you launch the game from Steam it comes up with "Play with DirectX 11" or "Play with DirectX 12 RTX (experimental)"

It is a gimmick. Right now that exactly what it is. Minecraft RTX kills your GPU. Are you seriously telling me that I should be taking it seriously right now?

As for AMD, last time I checked I hadn't bought one of their GPUs new since the Fury X. Right now I have.

And yes, I am saying that right now RTX is a gimmick. A passion killing, GPU melting gimmick. By the time you drop the resolution (in the most impressive RT game so far, Control) it becomes a weird bitty mess.

Do I think it will improve? of course, but I also think that will take 5 years before we see anything that can properly utilise and run it.

Thanks, downloading now :)

I know, the DLSS makes it look terrible

I don't know if it's just me, it might be, but I see a slight difference there. Is it enough of a difference for the amount of frames it'd cost? Absolutely not. The second image is better, but still not worth doing for the frame cost, it'd be interesting to know framerates for both on and off.
