Im thinking maybe the cake as a ruby wedding present as the cost of ingredients and time is quite a lot anyway and its more personal.

I agree a cake would be a lovely present - would you be making this yourself? Or purchasing it on their behalf?

I'd also suggest getting a little something else - doesn't have to be anything expensive just something they can keep to remind them of the day.

Well, there's your answer, make them a rugby ball shaped cake with 'Happy Rugby Wedding' on it. I'll bet they'll remember that more than any fancy gift you could give them in years to come.

I would be making it myself from scratch. The sugar flowers on top would be kept by them, but I do agree something else small to keep.

This whole wedding anniversary thing needs updating, ivory, crystal, paper etc etc. **** that ****. Can't wait for my Laser anniversary, plasma anniversary, nightvision anniversary tbh.

On topic of the OP though, old people love afternoon tea so get them a voucher for some fancy cakes and beverages at a posh hotel or restaurant/cafe.

Anyway for our 30th my girls got us tickets for Metallica and Slayer so we will expect something similar for our 40th in 7 years time.
