Rugby union?

ITV usually do a replay, since you missed the live run. Watch the bit where Barrett drives his shoulder into another players face. From what I can recall, tackles aren’t done while standing upright.

I saw it live, maybe you missed the sarcasm? That was as much an attacker dropping as anything else. It worked out well for SA but it disproportionately affected the game and I wanted SA to win so I'm not biased towards NZ. Too many players off the pitch this world cup. I'd rather see a penalty or territory awarded, 10mins or sending off is too much. A red such be reserved for premeditated foul play, punch in the face, eye gouging, really dirty stuff.

These frame by frame replays are silly. The game is played by split second decisions and is a rough tough sport. Get rid of the corporate Muppets, you'll see far worse than that in a Sunday morning amateur game.

In the same vein the scrum is getting ridiculous. Just throw the ball in straight, there's not even a pretence to compete for it any more.

God rugby is in **** state right now.

Negative dull rugby is king.

Not sure how you are supposed to sell that match as the best teams playing to emerging markets.

Wayne Barnes would probably be advised to stay off social media for a while, so many inconsistencies causing a lot of rage

It may have been somewhat dull if you will but it was super intense. The AB looked beat after 10 minutes then even more so at HT. It was a brilliant match for that edge of the seat drama.

End of the day these two beat France and Ireland to knock them out.

All well and good beating them in a non critical pool stage match, when **** hits the fans both these beat the two so called best teams in the world.

Neither France or Ireland looked liked they’d get that vital score as we went towards stoppage time, if it was the other way around you’d feel either on of them would get it. SB won their three knock outs by 1 point, so they can and will hold on.

Not pretty by the Boks, with another 1 point victory. But gotta hand it to them, they know how to grind out a win!
NZ played the more attractive rugby, but it wasn't enough in the end. Perhaps they'll regret not taking the points when they kicked to corner earlier in the game, but it was worth the gamble I guess.

Missing the two kicks was a massive factor too. Can’t be missing those at that stage.

Overall I enjoyed the tournament although the ref decisions were very inconsistent and I think the constant frame by frame scrutiny by the video ref needs to be toned down for the sake of the game.

The wonky put in at the scrum is really annoying and I can see the lineout going the same way before too long.

A lot of players retiring so it will be interesting to see the new guard coming through.

England do need a clear out of a lot of dead wood and some new faces brought in - but I guess it wont happen as usual.

You can look at it in reverse. As a rule, head contact is a red, happened to England in the early matches, but it’s not always intentional or there is clear mitigation because of the awkward position etc. in which case it’s a yellow.

Yeah, as far as I can tell the rules were properly followed so I don't have any complaints on that front.

What I'm talking about is whether those should be the rules. It's foul play, obviously, and a yellow doesn't feel unmerited. But it didn't seem to me to be the kind of totally egregious action that should have resulted in such an extreme penalty. Players will inevitably make mistakes on the pitch, and I think the margin between legal and red card should be larger than it seems to me to be.

I dunno, I haven't played Rugby beyond high school PE class, and I only really watch Six Nations and World Cup so I'm no expert on the sport, but it currently feels excessively punitive over small differences.

Good Afternoon,
What a Final well done to SA and Sorry for all Blacks. My main complaint about the whole competition is about the ITV/STV commentators. They are paid to commentate but most wants to talk about other things and not commentating the game which was very off putting. They love to hear their own voices all the time and not letting others into the game. There was too many adverts and the games were held up so they could show the adverts. Hopefully in for years time ITV/STV do not get the contract otherwise I will not be watching. Some games were brill and others mediocre but all in all a good competition. I love Rugby espically the best game in the world The Six Nations but if the games are shown on ITV/STV I will not watch.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think these things often involve malicious intent so I 100% agree.

Can maybe think of it from an F1 perspective. If there were no rules about driving into each other, people might take more risks or even do it on purpose, so the rule in rugby is mostly to discourage people from doing it and thereby results in players trying to tackle properly. In both cases, people could die or suffer a long term problem, so that's likely the driving factor.

No wonder Wayne Barnes is retiring - the amount of abuse him and his family seem to be receiving.

I really don't think he had that bad a game, and is always very clear with his decisions. Expected better from the AB supporters tbh

I wouldn’t tar supporters of any team with the dregs that shout loudest on social media.
