rules?

I have already explained. No-one seems to want to comply and listen.

Explain again then, there is no point saying you have explained everything and blaming everybody else when you don't show us WHERE you explained it.

If you have explained it like you keep saying, SHOW US and this will be over, you are making a simple argument very difficult for yourself...

The problem was that your explanation of the rule contradicted the one that Ace Modder gave in the OP. That's what caused all of the confusion. When 2 Dons say the rules are different, how are we meant to know which is the official stance?

Customer service? you are all arguing that it's "ok" to talk about competitors on a forum which is a business.

Im saying that don't talk about competitors of which we sell our main products which is hardware. So Steam is fine, Origin is fine.

Yes we sell games too but these topics keep this part of the forum alive and its good to have members..

So why the sudden change? We've been able to mention that place for games since forever, provided we didn't link.

Now suddenly because they're branching into digital sales, which are even less anything to do with what OcUK sell, everything changes?

Is this just a personal thing or are you actually representing OcUKs feelings on the matter? This is turning into a PR ****storm for them.

And both are different from the one Maccy posted an age ago that we've all been happy following forever.

So we are not allowed to mention a store because it sells hardware?

We are not talking about the hardware? We are not linking to the website either, They are selling games the same as Steam and Origin why can't we discuss it?

Because that is a rule of this forum that was set in place. Not by me.

Origin sell BF3  ban yourself!

Nobody was.

We know THE competitor rules.

However you have decided to extend them with no clear, concise and thorough explanation to remove all doubt.

All we know now is that:

-Talk of Steam is permitted under some kind of leniency. (Despite them not falling under the traditional competitor rules)
-That it might or might not be OK to mention a store which sells games.
-That we cannot mention someone you DEEM to be a large competitor, hardware sales or not.

What we already knew:

-Talk of obvious, blatant competitors was disallowed.

How can you not see why there is confusion and why it is being questioned for clarification?

We are referring to 1 company in particular here. Of a thread which was removed because its more of a direct competitor.

Really? we all know it "exists", but why should we start talking about that company on our forums? Its the Overclockers forum..

That's a contradiction to the many Dons who say that this forums isn't strictly to do with the business its self.

And it's very short sighted of whomever came up with this as the games selection is not competative and nor do you compete with... that place elsewhere.

You sell hardware, you fiddle with games. Suddenly you're competing with digital distributors who also sell hardware?

Well, astonishing to say the least.

We knew the rules then suddenly it was NO GAMES TALK.

Make it clear.

Hold on a moment. I havent EVER said not to talk about Steam? They are competitor for sure but I havent said not to talk about it? I am saying that before people get confused by the original post "which I didn't start" I said it was OK to talk about these other companies.........

How this went:

- OcUK "OI, COMMUNITY PACK IN TALKING ABOUT COMPETITORS"
- Community "uh, ok, what competitors?"
- OcUK "NO U!" *thread goes poof*
- Community *makes new thread "the hell? what just happened? what competitors?" *thread goes poof*

and so on..

This whole mess has probably done more harm than good for the business. I'm sure your reputation has taken a hit amongst the forum members here and the sheer lack of professionalism may potentially cost you more in sales than the profits you make selling games.

Valkia, people are just asking for you to explain the rules, and the best you can come up with is this and deleting posts where people are asking for explanations?

OCUK is losing a lot of credibility here.
