rules?

Hold on a moment. I havent EVER said not to talk about Steam? They are competitor for sure but I havent said not to talk about it? I am saying that before people get confused by the original post "which I didn't start" I said it was OK to talk about these other companies.........

But we're not allowed to talk about certain games for a set price, or a deal they have on, on a certain game, if you in particular stock this game, right?

Example:
OcUK stocks Crysis 2, if Steam had Crysis 2 still and it was on sale for 40% off, and someone linked to it saying "Hey, check out Steam, Crysis 2 is 40% off", by what you said in the other thread, this is banned, because they're stocking the same game you are and you're linking to a specific deal they have where it is cheaper than yourselves.

But any other time, talking about Steam is fine.

This is the impression I got from it all.

Was the way things were going really making an impact at all on OcUK games sales? I didn't notice anyone specificly saying 'buy game x from competitor y because its cheaper than OcUK!' most of the talk about competitors are good discussions, not trying to specificaly advertise than company.

Valkia, people are just asking for you to explain the rules, and the best you can come up with is this and deleting posts where people are asking for explanations?

OCUK is losing a lot of credibility here.

How many times, read the thread geez. I have explained.

Customer service? you are all arguing that it's "ok" to talk about competitors on a forum which is a business.

Yes we are your customers, what you are doing at the moment with the repeated thread deletions is the equivalent of putting the phone down on a customer that is trying to ask you a question.

This forum is a face of the company, as much as the people that answer the phones, and the people that man the desk.

The issue is that you stated that the rule had not changed while then going onto state a rule that was completely different to the one that was being enforced currently.

You have yet to explain what cannot be mentioned, we've established that the 'A' company cannot be mentioned (despite it being mentioned in this forum for years) because they sell hardware. What about highstreet gaming stores and online gaming retailers? Are they allowed (like they have been for over 6 months) or is this being changed?

I think I understand the "new" rules, but in all four of my attempted replies, the thread has been deleted or closed. Here's hoping it won't happen a fifth time.

We are not allowed to mention the names of retailers that sell similar products to OcUK (i.e., competitors). This means we cannot mention the actual names of the Jersey store, or the Rainforest, or the Guys in Purple Shirts, etc. We are also not allowed to mention the Rainforest's new digital distribution service.

We are, however, allowed to continue mentioning all the other digital distribution services that we have always been mentioning, like Steam, Direct2Drive, etc.

From my understanding, the only new addition to the rules is that we are not allowed to mention the Rainforest's new digital service, which is obviously why the thread about said service got deleted and why this whole commotion started.

Obviously, though, correct me if I am wrong, Dons. :)

but the dons confirmed we could mention game and other games retailers as long as we did not link them that's what the rule has been for the past 10 months

We are referring to 1 company in particular here. Of a thread which was removed because its more of a direct competitor.

And we've been able to talk about that company for ages, provided that we didn't link.

The discussion was about a digital download service. It's massive news for gamers, well worth of discussion. But we're being censored from even discussing that, just incase somebody decides not to buy an unreasonably priced retail copy from OcUK.

A fine example of someone who actaully doesn't know what is going on. This isn't about our GAMES sales at all. We are not saying don't promote a game, dont promote a price. We are saying don't promote companies who also sell the products which made this company the big business it is. It's not rocket since to understand that.
