Rumour: Its All the Boards fault, not Wenger?

Or maybe Mata was interested in signing for us until Chelsea got involved? If I was a player I know which club I'd rather go to at the moment.

Mata said this apparently. He prefered his chances with Chelski because they will have a better chance of winning something. Fair enough.

So Wenger is after these players, they just dont want to come to us.

despite this^

I guess we'll have to differ ;)

Just because he could do well at one club doesn't mean he can still do well here.

Managers go stale, Alladyce, did well at Bolton, was doing woefully at Newcastle, Hodgeson, Fulham, great, Liverpool, not so much, West Brom, absolutely fantastic.

Managers go stale, the same idea's on the same players for years can literally go stale, change can bring success. Benitez clearly had success at Liverpool, but it stopped working, Hodgeson I think gets a lack of credit for starting to turn things around,, Dalglish had an apparent instant impact.

O'neill did very well at villa, but again his idea's ended up stale, the players became less good and the team was getting worse in his final year.

Think of it like this, Arsenal's defence was pretty god damned good under Wenger's early years, but that was a defence he inherited, he mostly trained everyone in technique and attack. Those players HAD the defensive knowledge and were taught the attacking, now we have a whole new defence, and youngsters, taught entirely under Wenger and the defence is massively worse. If someone came in now who was better defensively, you'd be teaching some great attacking players how to organise defensively.

Clearly Wenger can't change his ways, despite this decline for 6 years he hasn't changed our defensive system, he hasn't picked up on the obvious mistakes or fixed them, he still can't teach how to defend set pieces.

We NEED a new manager, Wenger will probably retire tbh, but if he went on to be successful elsewhere, that doesn't mean it would have been the wrong choice.

Look how the fans and the SAME PLAYERS reacted under Dalglish, just some optimism and the belief maybe things will change.

Wenger hasn't had a new idea at Arsenal for years, at another club most of his idea's will be new, and a new manager at Arsenal, again most of the idea's would be new.

I think Arsenal also DESPARATELY need someone in charge who views the players are employee's, and not "his kids" who he's trained for years and can't stand to lose, a manager with little emotional attachement I think will gut a lot of the crap very quickly and replace it.

Honestly, what even half decent manager doesn't know how to stifle Arsenal? Doesn't know that they are weak at set pieces, that Song isn't a good target to wind up, that Sagna is constantly out of position, Wenger's Arsenal is a 100% predictable, known quantity. A lot of Utd fans complain when Fergie makes seemingly random changes, Fergie is constantly changing, that makes it harder to set up against Utd, doesn't always work, often does. 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-2, Berbatov playing, or maybe not, creative, physical, Fergie has an interchangable squad that can play multiple different ways. Why has he been at the same club with success for SO long, ability to adapt, something Wenger hasn't shown the slightest hint of being able to do.

He wont retire, he will go to PSG. They have billionaire owners now and supposedly he is already acting in an advisory capacity for them.

I do agree with the majority of what you said tho.

Wenger has been great, but he refuses to change his ways, even when they dont work.

How has he allowed it to get to this?

Other than Vermalean his CB signing have been awful.

Squilacci? Silvestre? Senderos? Djourou? ......

(Koscelny is ok however)

why cant wenger just go?

You'll end up like Chelsea by rotating managers every season. Except things will be much worse imo.

We don't know the in's and out's of Arsenal and how its run behind doors, but ultimately Wenger is the manager and he has to take responsibility.

Was it Wigan that refunded all the people who bought tickets when they got pumped by Spurs? Tbh Arsenal should do exactly the same, 4 hour drive, chanting your heart out and getting that **** performance in return.

If no signings are made by Weds, the next game, at home game against Swansea, is going to contain a mountain of hostility towards Wenger, regardless of who's fault it is for this joke of a summer.

The bucket stoops with wenger. yes we dont know whats going on behind the scenes but if the original link is true, then if i was wenger i would go. i would walk out before my own career and reputation gets tarnished.

But you have got to also question wengers tactics. its not good most games and some games we lose becuase of retarded tactics he implements and that has NOTHING to do with the board.
