Russian Grand Prix 2015, Sochi - Race 15/19

Bottas should have been aware of the possibility given where he was on track and clearly did not look. I call that a racing incident at worst, and Bottas' fault at best.

It was a very late move.

Bottas took the racing line and had no time to react to Raikkonen throwing it into the apex.

Even if Bottas gave the space, Raikkonen would have straight lined the corner straight into Bottas.

The atmosphere is so diferent when Rosberg ain't there. Far less awkward.

Honestly Rosberg is just not fun, you have interviews. You have these fan question panel type things where they all sit in chairs, for years they all now and then use the gas lift to drop a drivers chair and everyone laughs about it. Schumi doing it to people, when Hamilton did it to Rosberg he just gets an icy stare. Rosberg has the least personality I can remember from a driver in a long time.

No one jokes with him, Vettel trying to laugh in press conferences and Rosberg just shuts that **** down. I honestly can't stand him any more as he gets more air time he gets more whiny, less fun and no one has fun around him.

So just like a safety car :D

Loving this race. Come on Massa
How is a VSC just like a safety car? With a safety car a driver could be leading the race by a minute and they would have the person in second right up their backside if the SC is deployed. With a VSC a driver has to keep to a certain distance/lap time, therefore a driver that has worked hard to build up a lead will not be punished just because some other driver has had a crash. They are two completely different things.

I have personally never liked Rosberg either, I wish Mercedes would drop him.

And svc can be set up to different speeds depending what's needed unlike SC. VSC is the best thing introduced in several years, just needs to be used more.

Even if that happened he had space to go off track and would have been given the position back had he lost it if Kimi pushed him off too obviously. He should have seen it coming and had no need to chop the apex when the car was there. He absolutely did have time to react. These guys react in split seconds and the time between Kimi braking late and actually getting to the corner was more than enough time to react.

Regardless it was terrible driving from Bottas because he took a truly absurdly wide line, he was driving with zero defensive positioning like there was no possibility of a move. He didn't leave the door open, he actively opened the door, braking early and moving as wide as physically possible caused the situation to happen. Had he taken a sensible middle line Kimi would never have dived up the inside.

Great race, such a contrast to last year.
The safety car restarts were great, and the battle for third was entertaining for sure. Bit guns-ho from Kimi though and I really feel for Bottas.

Solid drive from Vettle and it's great he's now second in the championship, that should make for a good few last races.

Two points finishes for McLaren too, amazing! ;)

It really is a good track with lots of corners really good for overtaking. Next year I'm predicting a much closer pack, even with the gap from second slowest to slowest drastically reducing. This track could be a classic in the future with a competitive grid. Without it any track can suck, with it I think turn 3 is one of the best corners of the year. We had good overtaking there last year and in GP2 last year.

I love Sochi, as a track to drive at least - Last year's race was terrible, this year's race was quite literally the opposite.

One thing I dislike about Sochi is the turn two/three thing, it's a bit too tight and I think it detracts a bit, getting rid of turn 3 would be a huge improvement, maybe even widening it a little or something.

Otherwise, great race and it proved just what this track is capable of.

They still need to use it, Kvyat absolutely caned it through turn 3 while marshals were on the outside because he hadn't caught up to the pack and was going way faster than needed. The VSC should be in effect for the sector in which the crash is in, catch the pack fast but safely in sectors without a problem, but go slow through the area the crash is in.

Brilliant race, great result for Perez and FI. I'm amazed some people are suggesting Kimi was not at fault there, say what? :p
