I am still getting authentication errors though and cant log in, but thats on all servers :(
 
They just patched the game, but I think the server browser is broken as you cant sort it now and there are some weird servers in my history.

Hunger Games probably needs an update as I dont see it either.
 
Yeh, server owners need to update their servers with a mandatory update before you can join. Doesn't help that playrust.eu hosting portal seems to be down at the moment so no-one who uses that can log in and do this.

if you can't see the server for some reason your able to connect directly via the console press f1 to bring up the console and past the following :

How stable is this game? I was looking for a zombie survival game to gift to a friend and it's down to this or Dayz. Is it playable enough to enjoy, baring in mind that its still alpha?
 
DayZ is probably a safer bet for the masses, although I am really happy with rust right now..
I am not sure how much longevity it will have though as its quite easy to reach end game. But both are in Alpha stage though so anything can happen.
 
Got this last night and had a little bash, seems pretty good. Managed to kill a couple of pigs and build myself a shelter for the night.

I did struggle to find my way back to my shelter, would be nice if they implemented a map of some sort :)

I also cant seem to get ingame voice working, I have it set to the default key (V) but no one can seem to hear me :(
 
You need to get familiar with landmarks, it will take some time.

Just check your mic is enabled and active before loading the game, I havent heard of many issues with the V chat.

Which server are you on Cuffylad?

Well my mic was working in TS while I was playing, but will double check the settings tonight.

I played on the server linked above by Eddie, I made my home near the massive tower that someone had built as I thought it would be a good landmark to use to navigate :D
 
I dont know then, there arent many ingame audio settings.

Just be careful when you build, try to avoid windows and people being able to put stairs up the side of your house, there is a lot of it about! If you need help let me know (andy_h in game)

You are close to the road so it should help with navigation, the tower is near "sheds" on the map

Thanks mate, that map will come in handy :D

My goal for tonight is to make a sleeping bag so If I die I can respawn in my house?

After that I guess its make some weapons?
