Rust - multiplayer survival from the creator of Garry's Mod

Im all for the raiding and killing its just there's people who have simply played it more giving them and advantage on equipment so a wipe would be fantastic

Yes but it will never be a level playing field, and why should it? There are always people with more rust experience and more time to play. That doesn't stop experienced gamers getting up to speed quickly, but if they are just starting I don't believe they can expect everyone else to get wiped just to give them a chance. We all had to start somewhere and learn the hard way.

We can have set times for PVP and PVE but don't think would change anything

At least that way if people play on a server that matches their time zone they have a good chance of being able to defend their base while it is vulnerable, which is surely less frustrating than finding out that you've been raided by some 12 year old who's been allowed to pull an all nighter during the school holidays while you still have to get up at 6 for work :P.

Making It PVE only stops people killing eachother, it doesn't stop raiding

Are you a coward who likes to wait up past your bedtime to raid because you're scared of confrontation? :P

No, Hello Kitty that way m8 -------------------------->

I think supply drops should be removed from the money mod, remove crafting C4 and stick C4 back into supply drops that only come when 15+ players are online. I think that would help a lot and stop big huge groups resourcing C4 24/7.

Haha I'm not against PvP, but I do get slightly annoyed when people who've spent 8 hours a day farming c4 decide to level my house on a daily basis...

removed from money mod and crafting would definitely be a good idea.

Glad you agree with what i posted a couple of posts ago ;)

Is there a way to limit the contents of the airdrop based on the number of players online? i.e airdrop occurs with 3 people, but only contains c4 with more then 10?

Just a thought...

No, all we can choose us how many people are needed online to start the daily airdrop, it is currently at 10.

The server is restarting all the time apparently today worse than ever so as soon as I'm home I'm going to try transferring all files to new server

I don't suppose there's any way to change the frequency of items in an airdrop either then =/.

Please post the new server net.connect number when you've swapped :D.

I think i can do that sort of, it is set to 4 different ones at the minute (something like Ammo, Metal parts, wood parts and one other which did have c4 in it) It would take a while but I'm sure I could change the amount and frequency of what's In all of them and Create more new supplies if needed

I don't think set times for using C4 is the way to go tbh. I also don't think raids should only be at set times either.

agree

No, and believe it or not we are not all in the UK time zone.. the N1B server (for example) has players from UK, EU, Russia, Middle East and Asia... try agreeing on a common raid "time window" between that lot. Its a bit of a silly suggestion. If you cant handle getting raided or having your sleeper killed, either play smarter or find a new game TBH..

There are plenty of places you can build and sleep and be 99% sure of not getting raided. Don't be a victim and build next to a road hehe

Or.. they (like every other player) realised it was easier to raid your base when you aren't there. Nothing to do with being a coward.

Or.. they play in a different time zone and their 'bedtime' is actually 8 hours after yours.

Griefing/raiding isn't limited to Rust. There is literally nothing (except banning on a player by player basis) you can do to stop it. Maybe it will make you adjust your play style to hide your base better, or accept that anything you do in Rust will most likely be gone within hours after you quit.

I'm perfectly happy to be raided etc., but having been extremely well geared for a week or so it starts to get a little boring since the hardest part of acquiring vast amounts of c4 is learning to craft explosives.

I don't think it's fair for someone to have hours and hours of work destroyed because someone spent 20 minutes farming animal fat and sulphur - it's not the principal, it's the effort to build vs effort to destroy ratio (if that even makes sense?).

Sorry if I annoyed anyone by calling them a coward, it was sarcastic & definitely not personal!

I understand, and hopefully as the game progresses, they will remove a lot of the modern weapons, or at least make them a lot harder to get.

And I get how annoying it is to lose days and days of hard work because of griefers.

That is why I only really play Rust when I have someone else playing next to me (IRL) so we can coordinate better. We normally play for a couple days straight then leave it for a month or so, as it just so taxing to have to keep going on every single day to make sure your stuff is still there and to stop your buildings from decaying.

It's almost like an MMO with the amount of time you can sink into it grinding, but with literally nothing to show for it at the end (even blueprints are server specific)
