Rust - multiplayer survival from the creator of Garry's Mod

I definitely think you should move to the new server Cocky-Roach. Too much lag/lag spikes really make it unenjoyable at times, which is hurting your server.

C4 as non craftable / air drop only seems like a good motivator to get people to chase the air drops.

I understand, and hopefully as the game progresses, they will remove a lot of the modern weapons, or at least make them a lot harder to get.

And I get how annoying it is to lose days and days of hard work because of griefers.

That is why I only really play Rust when I have someone else playing next to me (IRL) so we can coordinate better. We normally play for a couple days straight then leave it for a month or so, as it just so taxing to have to keep going on every single day to make sure your stuff is still there and to stop your buildings from decaying.

It's almost like an MMO with the amount of time you can sink into it grinding, but with literally nothing to show for it at the end (even blueprints are server specific)

Agree with this. Rust is a really fun game that I love to go back to, but unfortunately there's so much effort involved with maintaining some kind of progression that it gets quite tiring so I don't ever play it if all I want is a quick game of something to pass the time.

Also, we should play again soon :D coordinated hide 'n' seek FTW!

I have a massive scale pvp map to build eventually but i need to work out the scale first. It will be a popular map from a very popular free online game just as long as no-one touches sacha!

Playing on sever no1 again, xxjokes or some rubbish like that happily griefing and trashing my shelter for no reason :( Still enjoyable mind :)

Aye, our server is not for the feint of heart I can say that much.

However I personally enjoy the game being dangerous, and learning how to survive without having my hand held by rules and admin commands.

I find using the ingame voice chat can negotiate a lot of the stickier situations when starting out :P

If you need a few bits n bobs I'm over by rad town!

Re-done my whole server as i had to wipe due to Rust Server memory leak :(

Features

  • Basic Economy
  • Starter Kits
  • Friends/Groups
  • Human Condition
What's the point of the Human Condition mod ?
"You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig." - Average Rust clan player after a few hours in a newly wiped server

With the Human Condition mod we want to create an immersive "Post-Apocalyptic" atmosphere where the majority of players actually use primitive stuff to survive.
When you find modern stuff, we want you to love it, to take care of it and to live in the constant fear of losing it. To reach that goal we have made drastic changes in the craft allowances and loot tables.

What we want to avoid is the classic scheme on most servers we have played on: a group of players is connected most of the time and within one or two days they control the server (or several groups control the server). They have unlootable castles and wander around with full kevlar and M4 to kill other players. If you happen to kill one or two they come back instantly with again full kevlar and M4.

While we understand this can be fun, we want to get rid of the "after you killed them, they return as powerful as before". With the Human Condition mod you can have kevlar and you can wander around with M4, kill and loot people. But if you die you will lose your stuff. Maybe you have 3-4 M4, and 2-3 kevlar armor.
But you can't craft them anymore.

With the Human Condition mod, attrition war against powerful players is possible.

Human Condition Main Features

1 - Primitive Crafting :
(see linked config file)
The Rust world as we see it is about surviving.
Not I-stack-25-automatic-weapons-in-my-twenty-stories-castle-ing.
So we disabled the following craft, research and blueprints :

  • You can't craft modern weapons. Yep. M4, MP5, 9mm, P250 or Shotgun. All gone.
  • You can't craft Kevlar or Anti-Rad Armor.
  • You can't craft Explosives. You still can craft the Explosive Charges thought, but only with the Explosives you will find in the world.
  • And last but not least, you can't craft 556 or 12 Gauge Ammo.
  • You are still able to craft weapon mods, because they are fun to use and don't upset the balance too much
Don't worry, we have raised the probability of looting most of those items. M4 and MP5 are very rare, tho. Since you can still craft 9mm ammo (we are not monsters), the queen of the end-game stuff will be the MP5. And if you happen to find one, don't run around carelessly, defend it at all cost!

2 - Post-Apocalyptic Loot Tables
Since we heavily changed the balance of the game by preventing the players to craft most of the modern stuff, we had to change the stuff you'll find in the world.
This comes in three parts :

2.a - The Boxes
Some balancing here and there. More chances to loot 9mm pistols and shotguns. More chances to loot tools, home parts, food instead of junk. Some chances to loot Explosives in order to make C4.
Less chances to loot ammo in general. You will experience decisions such as "Do I shoot at this guy with my M4 or do I keep the ammo for when I'm in danger?".
2.b - The "random foreign nation is helping us" Supply Drops
Supply Drops have been completely rebalanced, we now feature 6 different drops. Each one is designed to be the answer of some sort of foreign nation or private contractors :

  1. Weapons : you'll find full kevlar armor, ammo and either a MP5 or a M4
  2. Home : a full metal home for your beloved children
  3. Medical : 5 medkit of each, blood, cloth, blood kit and anti-rads pills
  4. Food : small rations, beans and water for you
  5. Explosives : explosives, C4 Blueprint (the only way to have access to C4, beside stealing to someone who got it from here) and F1 grenades
  6. Building Materials : Planks, Low Quality Metal and Supply Signal, build your home and call another airdrop!
2. c - The other inhabitants of the world, the Zombies
In before the planned Zombie Annihilation from the Rust devteam, we wanted to make them more humans. More like you and me. Undead versions of you and me.
When you kill a Zombie, it falls into two categories :

  1. The "I once was a Rust player" Zombie : randomly featuring hunting bow, raw chicken meat, some wood, bandages and a torch. Or if you are lucky some tools, primitive weapons (pipe shotgun, hand cannon and bolt action rifle) and their ammo.
  2. The "I once was a guy from any Zombie movie" Zombie : featuring some distinct functions from the medic (medpack, leather armor), the scientist (research kit, anti rad pills and armor), the soldier (kevlar part and 9mm or shotgun) and very rare the lieutnant (kevlar part, P250 MP5 or M4, and Supply Signal)

You can't force grass on when it is an issue with the alpha which decreases frames. Rust has a memory leak full stop, are you going to wipe every night? Until the devs fix it Rust has a memory leak no matter what.

didn't realize so many ppl had problems with grass on..Ive always used it even on full servers with no issues...my bad....ill turn that off ^^

The last couple of days my server has been restarting every 20 mins and CPU load has been insane even with nobody on the server..ppl were saying a wipe would fix the issue

I like the sound of the human condition mod, i think all servers should probably be like that. I will stick to Cocky's server though as we have a good community there in the whole.
