Rust - multiplayer survival from the creator of Garry's Mod

So spent the evening on Smok3y's server looting and building etc.

Think I need to get used to the modded type:

Loving the upped stacks, its so nice to have 5000 wood on 1 inv space instead of 5. With the x2 gather, I'm a bit of 50/50 on this, was nice to easily gather resources to create a base but maybe its too easy (getting 102 stone from crud tools everytime). Maybe I just need to get used to it, wonder how many you get with a pickaxe!

Not a fan of the instant crafting time on most things, not a fan of the orginal 3mins for some things but the tougher items should take a minute at least

Blueprints also seemed to be a bit rarer, but the equipment seemed to drop from barrels a lot more (found loads of rad gear) but that could just be luck.

If you find a half wooden half stone house between some massive rocks thats mine :p

Can't tell if this is just a issue or if it's just using a lot but my cpu usage is like 80%+ across all cores in rust on a 5820k not sure why :/

EDIT :

Screenshot in spoiler of cpu usage on loading screen, before

gbaEJOK.jpg

figured out it was AI Suit causing it down to reasonable usages now but that's what it was like on a loading screen in game it was worse.

Is this still the server name?

Had a look earlier but couldn't find it. Do you have the direct IP address? :)

Servers no longer available.

Think smok3y got bored and changed to Ark.

Was fun while it lasted, my base got raided by some guy and took all my stuff, luckily one of the guys was on and gave me all his stuff and told me to kill him as the server was shutting down. So I went and broke in, killed the guy and then used the /remove command to destroy his whole base :p

Bit mean but server was going down anyway :P

Ah okay, thanks.

I really want to get into this again, but with the frequency of server wipes, it makes it really hard to justify hours of grinding resources when they could all be lost within a week.

Maybe I'll play some 7DTD

What is the best way to raid a base if you don't have c4...i got weapons ND tht but nothing to blow stuff up.

I play on rustwars community server ND I want to start raiding but there is only two of us lol

Any tips welcome I'm fairly new to the game lol

Not sure if we're allowed to plug servers.

But me and 2 mates joined a server today.

[EU] KYE [BetterLoot|TPR/Home|Stack|Skills] LootTowns|HostileAI

Thought we'd try it out to see what the AI is like, server admin has them running around radtowns/airfield and a few towns he's made himself.
Had great fun raiding 1 of the loot towns, AI popping out of everywhere, adds a nice PVE element to the game.
Admins are still tweaking the AI and the loot they drop, but giving feedback where we can.

Could do with some more people. ;)

Pickaxe/hatchet and a lot of spare time. :p

Anyone having problems with the new Pumpjack?

We've tried a few, always putting them down on places where the survey charges have found crude oil. But all it pumps up is metal and sulfur.

Wowzers. ....rust is looking kinda sexy these days!

Basically the team decided they hated the original game and scraped it and its now known as Legacy Rust.

New rust is really good, I think a lot of people are put off due to the legacy part of hackers and rubbish graphics but I was quite into it, stopped for a bit to let development get a bit further but if you check their blog every week its coming along nicely.

I tried it fairly recently and couldn't get more than around 20fps on my 295x2. I guess crossfire isn't supported yet which is fine but changing the detail levels didn't seem to make any difference to FPS. Going to try again in 6 months or so.

It's quite a bit different from the old Legacy version.

Mate made a vid of the AI towns on the server we play on.

There is a vid of us raiding 1, but I can't link that due to harsh language.

I played Rust for the first time in ~10months last night, after recently trying ARK and once again enjoying the the survival gamesplay style but the time investment to do anything in that game is huge. Spent a couple of hours trying to tame stuff, and my game performance was pretty terrible.

Anyhow, I decided to give Rust another try as I hadn't played it in ages and I'd heard they'd made big changes, and I gotta say it does feel like a whole new game and a good one at that. Only annoyance was the eu facepunch server crashing, and while it doesn't have dinosaurs in their current states it's the much better playing game at the moment.

Hopefully I'll bump into some of you while out causing carnage.

just got this and well specs

win 10
16gb ram
280x vapour x
i5 760
SSD840 evo

and well it runs ok but get major drops in FPS some times and real bad
is this known about or do you lot get th same problem?

never really liked this much until recently they done quite a few decent updates recently and it looks really nice and performance is a lot better.

worth trying again if you didnt like much or havent been on it lately ;)

there was a whole wipe last night for new updates.
