Rx480 prices.... mining?

Are R9 390's any good for mining? I've just had to RMA mine, if they can't repair it then what are my chances of getting a 480/580 replacement now that there's no stock anywhere?

If it gets repaired, is it worth selling while prices are high or is it only really RX series that are selling for good money? If they can't repair it, and can't replace it due to no stock so offer a refund instead, what do I buy? Don't really fancy a 1060 although there doesn't seem to be a lot of choice at the minute in that price range.

It will match or better an RX480 in mining performance, but will consume 2 times or more power to do it. :)

It is a viable option, but not many would buy it to mine specificity, unless it was a bargain due to that high power usage or out of desperation due to lack of other cards.

Reminder - No selling (or even hinting at) outside the MM. Those suspected of arranging sales via "trust" will be suspended and may also lose MM privileges.

Thanks - Armageus

Jeeze just looked on the bay and rx 480s are going for 250-290! I could probably sell my strix for profit

5-6 1070s would wipe the floor with 5-6 RX470 (good luck finding any at £150) on 1 rig.

They wouldn't. OpenCL miners have come a long way since Zcash was minable. Just check out our thread on Zcash in the crypto section. Every other day we were getting another big boost.

An RX 480/580 will hit around 315 sol/s a 1070 can get 430-460 sol/s it's not close unless you know something I don't? :)
But at the moment mining zcash on these the RX series would be a bit silly as eth is a much better option in the 26/30 MH/s range.

My Fury was getting 500s/s (unlocked and overclocked) but ETC was still more profitable to mine at the time. I made the asumption the 480 would be as good or close but maybe not. I know the 390 does close to Nano performance in zcash and its almost the same as a 480 so I don't know. Something is making the 390 do a lot better.

My R9 Nanos are running around 23.5 on ETC
And around 330 sol on zcash..

And Around 90watts.

Modded bios.
