Rx480 prices.... mining?

Same as my wife's card. It went to Italy to a very normal looking account with good feedback. The money they paid meant after fees etc I upgraded her to the Msi gaming x 1070 for about £40 extra. Absolute no brainer for me.
The post office said it was totally standard and legit.

I'll be doing the same. Weird thing is, I got mine cheap 2nd hand when the mining bubble burst first time round.

Having a look on the bay, seems like they are going for £130-200, some sold for more than that....

Might be worth waiting a bit longer for when current retailer stock completely diminishes and prices/demand goes up even further.

Don't think it would be worth while if only getting £150 or less though tbh, especially since the only real option for buying something cheaper is a 1060 atm. I wouldn't spend the extra on the likes of a 1070 as I intend on getting vega when its out.

EDIT:

Mine is brand new but is like 3/4 years old now so might not fetch that much :/

Sold my MSI Gaming X 8GB yesterday for over twice what I paid for it. Is a 1070 a good bet still? Can find a Palit Jetstream for £330 or MSI Armour around £335 - are they good prices?

Also, what's the highest price you guys have seen 8GB 480's go for?

Tempted to move mine on (although i'd only want what I paid, £170) but we're still 6+ weeks from Vega.

I don't really want to lose Freesync.

Honestly. I can't even begin to describe the amount of times people have had descisions made for them, against their will. Because they bought a brand locked monitor. Just don't do it guys. Use V sync!

This is where kind of where I'm at. A cheap upgrade to a 1070 but I'd lose free sync. Honestly, I don't even really need a 1070 but it would be nice to have.

I'm positive the Nano can get 30 in ETH and 400 minimum in Zcash.

But his rates are using under half it's full power consumption. :)

Still it would make more money just ramped up to max. The extra power costs would easily be paid for by the extra performance. Around 450 Sol for Zcash.

Though he may not want his card pumping out the heat and could be limited by PSU capacity

I replaced one of the RX480's in my mining rigs for the 980ti in my gaming rig (about the same performance just uses a tad more power), then sold the RX480 and used the money to buy a GTX1080, I call that a win lmao.

Just plonk it on at £300 buy it now, bet it sells. :)

I chucked it on a 7 day auction, still got just over 3 days left and it's currently on £255 so I'm confident it will probably hit the £300+ mark by the end!

Lots of watchers too!

Once sold I'll be buying a 1060 6GB or 1070 from you guys for my spare system :)

It's a pitty EVGA doesn't do offers for the UK. Only the other day the official website had a 980 Ti classified at $220 and the regular version at $199 so that's £160 for a brand new Ti that'll run circles around a rx 480

I've done exactly what you're in the process of. Only hard part is finding a 1070 for a decent price, they don't seem to exist at the moment.

When do we expect this wave of mining-madness to crash and die out?

I'm looking forward to picking up a bargain or two :D.

For those with 290s, if we can get around £200 for them - surely a stop gap to a second hand 980Ti for around the same would be a good shout?

Yeah, a 6 GB GTX 1060 £220 would tide me over if it weren't for the lack of FreeSync support. I suppose it might be possible to lower settings enough to get 144 Hz locked though.
