RyanAir

Anything bigger than a laptop case costs money now.

So if you're the lucky 50 first people who can carry a "carry on" sized bag then great, but for the other 130+ passengers any "cabin baggage" acceptable by every other airline MUST go in the hold at a cost of €15-30 depending on flight.

If you've paid for your baggage it will go in the hold for free if there's no room on the plane. This is where you get a tag/sticker at the gate.

I went to Salzburg two weeks ago.
I had a small case above my head and my back pack under the seat in front - no extra charge.
Other family had their cases in the hold at no extra charge plus their bags by their feet.

Just yesterday I had to pay, on their website, €47 extra (over two flights) because the "first 50 people" had taken the only carry on spaces, so everyone else's carry on sized small bags including my 25L daysack MUST go in the hold and IT IS NOT FREE to do so.

They're cheap for a reason.

If you added all of these extras on then you'd get to a similar price for a flight from another more well regarded airline.

I don't see the reason for the hate most of the time tbh, they're a budget airline?

Tesco Value lager tastes worse than a premium pint in a London Hipster Bar, which costs 10 times as much, no surprise there?
