Ryse: Son Of Rome. PC

It's no secret that Crytek has had recent financial difficulties even if they have received new capital investment. Push for the games promotion, ask the gaming community to purchase the game. Crytek is not a developer we want to see fail, the developer who brought us Far Cry and Crysis and developed it first on the PC.

The PC community would (I feel) respond kindly, putting those £25 coins aside to help a friend in need (Crytek) with the bigger picture being further PC support from games developers in the future and taking the platform more seriously.

The PC community is / has been neglected by game developers, developing months /years if never after other platforms #Reddeadredemption #Destiny #Halo and while I do understand the reason for excusive titles Microsoft have 3 large Platforms in the gaming market, XboxOne, Xbox360 and Windows.

As long as the game is good, I honestly do not care who developed it, what they went through or how much it cost. Crytek is the developer of two legendary games, Far Cry and Crysis but, somewhere along the line, they lost their way because they stopped listening to the customers and instead focused on what their publisher was saying. They started catering more for the console market, they played it safe, avoiding risk and innovation and they invested too much on engines and offices all over the world.

CD Projekt RED had a somewhat similar start as a developer but, unlike Crysis, when developing their next games, they didn't care about how many pirates copies were circulating on the internet, they didn't change the main concepts of the games to cater for consoles and they didn't expand all over the world. They took what was good in Witcher, they made vast improvements and added amazing graphics. Come February and they'll break some records with ease. Crytek will be another step closer to bankrupcy, which is what they deserve.

I have it on XB1. I thought it was graphically impressive and I personally liked the story. Think it was unfairly slated on the gameplay as it's not that dissimilar to assassins creed, batman and Shadow of Mordor but it suffered because those were open world games whilst this is completely linear.

I enjoyed the multiplayer co-op with one of my friends but it's fairly samey after a while. Good fun in short bursts.

I'd recommend picking it up in the £10-15 range.

I'm going to buy it just to churn it out on full wack on my new set up. I kinda get overwhelmed with big open games and don't have the time, so for eye candy and cinematic gameplay this suits my needs until Rome Total war 2 starts working again (died on latest patch 3/4 of a campaign. GRRR)

i'm also curious....i remember the console reviews for this saying it looked good but didn't have much depth to it. So, interested to hear if it's worth getting on pc?

I've just picked it for £21. Will let you guys know how I get on with it over the w/e. Fancied having a break from Rome II with a bit of action and eye candy, so we'll see.

Im really enjoying it. Its a very simple game. Just a slash em up really lol but Its probably the best looking game iv seen and im finding it pretty fun so far.

Has native 21:9 ingame apparently but I am waiting for a bit. Crytek are not someone I want to support @ full price anymore!

Good for a 30min/1 hour blast, simple but enjoyable game, plays well, using CF290X @ 4K, looks lush and 100% GPU usage on both hitting around 60FPS, will give this a good play through.

Just discovered a game breaking glitch for me, getting a cinematic freeze when you
escape York and the pillar falls down
.

My thoughts............

The problem I have is that this could have been a great opportunity for PC gamers to show game developers how important the PC platform is.

Crytek who have previously released brilliant games on PC (Far Cry / Crysis) and ported / transitioned them across to other console platforms could have priced this differently, let’s say £20-£25 for a game that is now 1 year old, the original R&D, production and advertisement should have been recuperated with the sales suggested by "VGA charts" 0.93 million copies were shipped worldwide 1/5th of every XboxOne console, Let’s not forget this is a young market, had it been released previous generation consoles too, the sales figures would have been way higher.

A total estimate of £55.8 million add a further smaller budget for PC development and production, ship it and add the already released DLC packs as a complementary pre-order, I see no reason why this couldn't ship between 2-3 million copies which would in turn create hopefully £40 to £75 million in sales, this could turn the heads of game developers to see that the PC community isn't going anywhere and more support should be provided as Ubisoft recently realised.

It's no secret that Crytek has had recent financial difficulties even if they have received new capital investment. Push for the games promotion, ask the gaming community to purchase the game. With the game being a retail price of £34.99 I think people would find it difficult to justify the price given the mediocre reviews for the game and I suspect it will have low sales figures or high pirated figures..........

The truly astonishing thing is, you've hit the nail on the head. An "Armchair expert" (No offence intended).

Yet the big wigs will forever be in ignorance.

Have you been able to get past this?. Ive read on the offical forums that other people are having the same problem with no solution.

I'm liking it so far. Purchased the game not expecting miracles, more to help out Crytek financially. However, I'm actually feeling it's money well spent. Or rather, I'm not begrudging spending it

A quick fix to the issue I was getting trying to escape York with the cinematic freeze, removing the Videos-part3.pak from the GameRyse folder sorts this problem, seems to be pretty widespread going by the discussions on Steam .
