Right now an Intel system would cost me close to £200 more per year to run. It’s something to be concerned about, especially for the coming years.
Yes I agree. However certain people claim efficiency is important whilst running a 13900k. It doesn’t make sense. It’s like complaining about fuel when driving a performance car.

I’m a sim racer and wanting to upgrade.

I’ve a 3090 running triple 1440p. I’m happy to buy a 7950x3d. Would there be a benefit over a 5800x3d?

I’m on a 4th gen i7 intel right now.
if your a gamer, yes. (min fps allows a better gaming experience on amd x3d)
zen4 also offers upgrades down the line which am4 dont.
you play games you want the newer stuff its why I upgraded to zen4 vs going for a 5800x3d.
Later after summer I buy the 7800x3d and be set for years.

Don't know how much the 3090 will be holding it back but x3d seem to love SIM stuff regardless even with 3090 it's gonna very noticeable jump from 4th gen i7 intel would personally make the jump to am5 x3d , only would consider 5800x3d if was already on am4 platform not for new build

I suppose every watt helps though if you are unlucky enough to be running a 550watt Nvidia graphics card.

Ordered the 7950x3d from a competitor who shall not be named. However, despite saying they had stock and next-day delivery.

It isn't in stock..was ready to do the new build today!

@Gibbo i know the 7800X3D hasnt been launched yet but are you able to comment on how many you have on order and/or how many you are expecting to have for launch day?

How many I order is irrelevant, I ordered 500+ 7950X 3D during CES and we still got barely any as did rest of UK it seems. 7800X 3D I have like 1000 on order, I hope we will get 100+ on first wave but could be less or more.

@LtMatt It arrived over an hour ago...why dont we have benchmarks yet.....
They are coming, don't worry. Just put liquid metal on it and got it up and running. About to start running some benches with the same memory settings I used with my 7950X. I have a few results saved from Horizon Zero Dawn, Far Cry 6, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Cyberpunk 2077 so will start a new thread once I'm ready.

Here's some screenshots of me swapping over CPUs etc.

Have they told you that they aren’t sending it out?

A reflection the U.K. economy maybe.

Aren’t the CaseKing overlords responsible for purchasing?

If you currently ran your system gaming 24/7 with an average power usage being 50w greater for Intel in gaming. Over a whole year would be around £149 at current electric costs. So no that is rubbish to suggest it would cost that much more.

Lets say you do work on the system 10hrs a day and that software is 100w more then. So that is £0.34 a day so working days per year would total £77.81 more. Lets say you only game 6hrs after that 10hr working day and so only the 50w difference. That is £0.10 per day by 365 (assume you game on weekends too) so £36.50. Add that to your previous working time and you are totaling £114.31 a year.

This doesn't include anything likely when you are on holiday, away, not gaming, days off work, sick etc. So yeah that just isn't realistic what you are saying.

You have cheap electricity. The power use difference for me would be closer to 100 watts depending where I measured. It’s about £200 PA per system for me.
