If I get a 7950X3D and assign the non 3d 8 cores to a VM and use the 3d cores for gaming? Has anyone done anything similar.
Assuming you’re using Windows 10 or 11 it should do it automatically. If it doesn’t project lasso should give you full control. Scheduling works really well in my experience.

I've recently been watching a lot of videos on cooling these CPUs, especially the offset mounting and delidding, due to the extra thick IHS.

Anyone tried either on these CPUs and how did it go? Was it worth the extra effort?

Hell no. They run so cool anyway, it's a complete waste unless your going for world records IMO.

Second this, just finished a build for my brothers living room (7800x3d, 3080 + S95b OLED) Elden Ring has the GPU at 95%+ load the cpu is around 20% load and at 60-60 degrees.

Yeah, Samsung memory sucks this time around, unlike in the DDR4 era when they were kings and Hynix sucked. The roles have reversed for DDR5.
I don't think they suck there's levels between bad and good. Micron is definitely bad compared to hynix or Samsung but Samsung kits are good value if you buy a cheap 4800 kit with Samsung memory you can push up to 6000 CL 32 while looser than hynix there's also timings that are lower and the performance is decent.

Yes I might have messed up on that price a little, but hey it’s a Sunday and I refuse to work even though I did that price around 1am last night rather drunk.

So if it jumps to £350 tomorrow don’t be surprised and in other words this is me giving a heads up and telling you lot to bag yourselves an awesome CPU cheap! ;)

Amazing CPU, but not sure if it's worth swapping out the 7900X at -30 curve optimizer. I like to go for max performance and lowest power/temps though. Like the single CCX idea, but I can see AMD perfecting this next Gen.

Well thanks for the cockup and I've also bought a motherboard to try and offset your cockup a little lol
