That 700mhz is only on the non 3D cache cores thoughI'm not sure the 7800X3D is going to be that similar in perf to the 7950X3D it has 700mhz less boost and that's a 12% freq loss. That has to have an impact on overall performance. No doubt it'll be good value for money though but for the top perf 7950X3D looks to be where it is at.
I'm liking the look of the 50-75W less power used than the 7950X and some people seeing 20C lower temps also.
From the coverage I've seen so far the freq on the 3D v-cache CCD is still 5.4-5.5ghz - so not as much of a drop but still fairly substantial vs the max boost of the 7800X3D. It also likely won't be hitting the max boost in all gaming loads. I'm not saying it'll be a bad chip just that it is likely to not be the best, which it isn't supposed to be.That 700mhz is only on the non 3D cache cores though
Interesting, In the reviews I've read I've only seen the 3D CCD hitting in 5.1-5.25 range, I suppose those could be heavier CPU loads thoughFrom the coverage I've seen so far the freq on the 3D v-cache CCD is still 5.4-5.5ghz - so not as much of a drop but still fairly substantial vs the max boost of the 7800X3D. This is weird as hell. Cyberpunk is a GPU centric title. And there's next to no difference between any of the AM5 cpus in gaming loads, the 7600x is within a few fps of the 7950x in any title. And unless these new 3D chips are going to take GPU workload onto their cores, it's not going to matter.I'm saying you need to have a fps target and see if the CPUs in question can hit that in the first place, because that's the relevant metric, rather than what the relative performance differential is in a situation you won't (accept to) be in.
F.ex I target 120 fps in certain games (let's say Cyberpunk), so that's a relevant target I pay attention to. A 7600X can't hit that in games I care about, so that it's near equal to a 7950X3D at 4K at a target framerate below what I choose to play at is irrelevant.
Think I've seen something like 10 video reviews at this point and seen it go from anything from 5.05-5.55. At a guess it'll depend on mobo settings and the cooler used as PBO + curve optimizer is available this time around.Interesting, In the reviews I've read I've only seen the 3D CCD hitting in 5.1-5.25 range, I suppose those could be heavier CPU loads though

What did you do, pick an arbitrary title and fps level to hold against it? Paying 500 bucks for 5 frames is so dumb it almost transitions into immoral wastefulness

Speaking of amd taking things into their CPUs. Rumour is AMD is so happy with how v cache L3 memory has worked out; AMD is planning to start putting DRAM onto the CPU package too at some point
The difference is its fighting a 13900K at £580 so that is a large chunk more relative. If it had come out at £690 ish that difference if you was looking now isn't quite that bad and it's still a £140 more than you can pick up the 7950x.
Just seems too much of an uplift in current market.
Give me a few days and I'll know!HAs anyone tested it with DCS yet...
The price is frightening.
£822!!
cant wait for the benchmarks
It boosts to a max of 5.25 on the cached core. Link me to a review where it boosts higher.I'm not sure the 7800X3D is going to be that similar in perf to the 7950X3D it has 700mhz less boost and that's a 12% freq loss. If OcuK have stock and I get lucky, perhaps. I'll be trying a few UK retailers to get a couple.
