Still better than the Nvidia 4070Ti make anything up slides with no fine print. Like watching AMD do stupid and must better them at everything...

Also since Ryzen has dropped the CPU performance slides have been bang on or even under the actual performance. Even the previous 6000 gpu stuff was accurate. Not sure why AMD decided to mess it up this time around though.

Just let's not hope for Nvidias version either.

I’m in the same boat having everything except the CPU ready. The impatient voice in my head is saying just get a 7700x, it’ll be cheaper than 7800x3D and probably won’t make a big difference seeing as I’m gaming at 4K on my desk and 7680x1440 on my sim rig…

Then upgrade to the AM5’s last fastest processor 9800x3D or whatever it’ll be called at the time…
Yea.. I’ve waited an age for the x3d but I’m pondering on getting a 7700 and using the savings towards an ultrawide monitor.

I mean.. anything is a (big) step up from my i5 7500

I am going to wait for the benchmarks and see. I am going to upgrade to the latest, but will see if the X3D chips are worth it. I am thinking that there might be a 3rd gen AM5 processor...

next up Zen 5 and Zen 5 x3d according to the roadmap sometime in 2024

Same here, I'm currently sporting a 5800x with a 3070 and I'm not happy with my VR performance in flight sims. I also Sim race with triple 1440p screens so need the grunt. Definitely going for a 4080 or 4090 if I can stretch the budget. I'm interested to see what the performance dif is with a 5800x 3d chip because I could save some cash and buy that but I think the games I play would benifit with a higher GHz.

I've got a 7600x strictly for gaming. It was only meant as a stop gap but if the 3D chips are really expensive and were talking about a +10-15% uplift I'll just hang on till next gen.

Hype is a scam by consumers on themselves.

Either its an honest and quality product or it's not, any fanciful mongering by the public has no bearing on that.
Not many people are wanting to be scammed then! I admit I was thinking the 16 core version would be amazing but after the CES presentation I was left thinking that only the 7800x3D would be decent which is only going to be around 10% better than a 5800x3D. Not exactly amazing but at least if you jump onboard for AM5 there is the potential for zen5x3D to be a more significant upgrade.

anyone here bothered waiting for the new x3d chips?

Like the 7950 are really cheap, vs the 7950X3D, like a 200 pound saving just for the X3D bit

Like did u just buy a 7800 or 7900/7950X chip

I mean the £200 saving vs the X3D bit is like 10% in performance, im sure ppl will prefer saving 200 quid n get a 7950 basic chip, no?

I'm waiting for the x3d chips, i'll probably purchase the 7800x3d as soon as they go on sale. Yes it's a 25% price increase for maybe 10% performance increase but the higher up the performance scale u go, the more expensive it gets. It the same with most things. The best usually costs exponentially more. I think 10% increase is a bit conservative btw, that would put them on par with 13900k, i think they'll beat that. I reckon 15% increase. I'd be happy at 10% anyway, i'm considering how cool they'll run/less power hungry and upgrade-ability.

You said primary use is gaming so why do you need the 7950x or even the 7950x3d when the 7800x3d will be cheaper

It's pretty safe to say the 7800x3d will beat the 7950x in gaming and all the x3d will have nothing between them in gaming games don't give you anything above 8 cores

I'm guessing the 7800x3d will be £50-£100 above what the 7700x currently is at ?

Save the money saved and use it for something else is my advice

It is tempting to pickup a 7950, but I’m hanging on.

I've been putting off my new build until the X3D chips were announced at CES.

My PC usage is purely for gaming at 1440p, possibly 4K in future. Will I benefit from the 3D v-cache?

The Hardware Unboxed review for the 5800X and 5800X3D suggests an overall 9% improvement in performance, but should I cheap out and get a regular 7700X instead?

Have there been any official review benchmarks on these X3D chips yet comparing them to other Ryzen chips on the market?

Depends on the game the ones that make use of the cache get nice uplift, also another thing is improved lows overall
