Yeah i'm currently rocking a 7900xtx with a 5600X and i'm pretty sure it's bottlenecking hard, i'm not getting the frames i expect (i dont have the throttling issue xD)

IF only 7600's released with the right RRP for us, i'd be pretty tempted.

By the time i end up being able to boot my rig up for the first time i'll probably have something DOA and i cant return it lol

I was okay with £239 for the 7600. I'll probably keep it after I get a 7000X3D and use the 7600 for a media rig/as a spare. Failing that can always sell it on MM for not much loss.

Thats fair if you have another use lined up for it, i cant quite stomach "wasting" £100ish just cos im being impatient

Just research RT decide anything other than nvidia needs to be called out every time someone mentions it and you’ll get there in no time ;)
Haha, was thinking I missed the boat in the 4070 ti thread to really rack up the comments :D

Back vaguely on topic, I’ve got an order for everything but the CPU, is that dangerous because of the chance of DOA parts? I should still have the standard 30 days return period right??

Nope 14 days and then we get to is it broken or not. Hold fire and order at the same time.

With CES just around the corner the Ryzen 7000 X3D chips are expected to be announced with availability by the end of Jan.

Leaks are suggesting the following options:
  • Ryzen 9 7950X3D: 16 MB L2, 192 MB L3, 170W
  • Ryzen 9 7900X3D: 12 MB L2, 192 MB L3, 170W
  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D: 8 MB L2. 96 MB L3, 170W

The 7900 looks like an absolute stormer here, and likely the chip I will pick up.

192MB L3 cache, absolutely disgusting.
I haven't read all 22 pages of this thread, but it seems these specs are now incorrect

e.g. Ryzen 9 7900X3D: 12 MB L2, 128 MB L3, 120W

If you've already ordered everything bar the CPU, I'd go ahead and order the £239 7600 just to test all components. If you wait until X3D release, anything DOA would have to go back to manufacturer, so no next day replacement with a brand new unit from OCUK.

That's what I did at least, should have the CPU today. Will put my 4090 from my 13900k system on it temporary just for fun :D

I’m in the same boat having everything except the CPU ready. The impatient voice in my head is saying just get a 7700x, it’ll be cheaper than 7800x3D and probably won’t make a big difference seeing as I’m gaming at 4K on my desk and 7680x1440 on my sim rig…

Then upgrade to the AM5’s last fastest processor 9800x3D or whatever it’ll be called at the time…

I have to remove my motherboard to take out the CPU as the Lian Li Evo cutout blocks half the AM5 retention screws. I installed a 7900X and custom water cooling. I think I may be locked into that CPU for some time

Maybe that will stop my endless hardware changing for a little while!
