Ryzen and Gaming results.

Okie Dokie.

I was going from this

http://www.toptengamer.com/amd-ryzen-7-1700-vs-intel-i7-7700k-1800x/

This to me is where I am seeing the performance at 1080p and 1440p for the Ryzen chips that is all. To me the delta's are very good and in true gaming context. Maybe I am reading the wrong thing?

What i don't really understand is why are different reviewers showing such hugh varience with their results? Take this one for example.

http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreview...review-premiere-blender-fps-benchmarks/page-7

It shows a completely different result and is the most extreme I've seen in favour of intels chips. (your's is the most extreme I've seen in favour of ryzen). Most seem to fall in the middle somewhere but its just odd. It seems like everybody is coming to different conclusions based on which reviews they have read.

I have a feeling the motherboards sent out for review is playing a big part, gigabytes bios looks a bit more polished to me

Has anyone followed the spitting match between Tech City and Joker Productions on Youtube? Tech City flat accused Joker of being dishonest about the clockrates he running his I7 7700K at and showed a single frame where in the Tomb Raider benchmark the game hit 200 odd FPS which he could only replicate if he underclocked his CPU. Joker fired back by saying this still held a grudge against him from years back and was out to screw with his channel and the TR bench was giving results that were all over the place (he even showed a video of this happening).

It's really odd this is the first time I've seen two people from the tech press fall out like in public.

Yeah I don't either but short of the person making it up which OK is possible but pointless then I would say with the correct system (mobo/bios/RAM/GPU) then the 1700 is pretty solid at gaming that was why I was getting lost with it being so far away.

Also this is an interesting read

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5xgonu/analysis_of_gamersnexus_r7_1800x_review_an_i5_in/

A lot of reviewers got their Ryzen kits a month before launch and were told motherboard vendors were still working on the BIOS and to keep updating them.

That i think was a mistake, a lot of them are not going to do that, Jayz2cents internet rant about last minute Ryzen instructions was very telling, a lot of them didn't want to have to deal with constantly redoing benchmarks and reporting back the results to then get yet another BIOS to install and redo it again.....

As a result we have widely varying results.

About Gamers Nexus, after watching his video on Ryzen i have to say i have no trust in anything he says or does, his behaviour was like that of a snotty nosed little brat, especially toward the end of the video where he completely dismissed 'sneering and laughing' that Ryzen high productivity performance is pointless because of GPU hardware acceleration.

For me that told me all i needed to know about him and his reviews.

I think he also mentioned there is no point to fight for faster memory as it doesn't give much benefit?

Well i'm not going to discount his results based on attitude tbh. He lists his testing methods and it all seems to be legitimate. His 1700 review which was released yesterday was more positive as the price is much more competitive so there is that.

So testing games for 30 seconds each seems legitimate to you?:)

Jezus ladies, you still arguing about who said what in reviews?

Who cares?!

The Ryzen chips are great. If you like them get one, if not stick with Intel.

Very excited about the AM4 platform as a whole, should get some real compelling upgrade options going forward too. This chipset will be around for a while. That was a big factor in my choice too. Honestly I recommend people try these themselves, I'm using the lowest clocked 1700 and it absolutely flies. You could put together an entire build based around the 1700 and something like a GTX 1070 and it would still cost less than an Intel 6900K. Something to think about?

AMD done good.

But i'm more interested in how it compares to the 7700k as that is the gaming competition. And the fact that there is such a huge discrepancy between reviews is annoying to say the least!

Can't wait to get my kit to join you old boy

For the haters, this guy put a great video to sum up gaming performance on Ryzen.

Remember kids the 7700K outperforms the 6900K in gaming too, where are the hate threads for that? Oh and that chip is £1000.....

Watch it in it's entirety, the last bit did make me lol xD

It's really good. A setup that will last a long time at a good price.

Am i missing something or does he not actually compare it to any other CPU's in the video you just linked? All he is doing is showing games running on ryzen and showing he is getting good FPS which is great and all but its the comparison to intels competing gaming chips (Kaby Lake) that is important to somebody like me who is a gamer. Great if it beats a 6900k but i'm never going to buy a 6900k so its not relevant. If you are looking for a CPU for gaming and productivity then Ryzen is fantastic. It smashes production and performed well in games so you get everything you want for a reasonable price.

However, for gaming alone, the 7700k still seems to be the better CPU at this point in time. I'm not a hater for saying that, its just how the CPUs stack up.

The only thing that will really disappoint about Zen is if the 6 and 4 core cannot clock as high as the Intel equivalent. That, and the fact that they're not available now.

I don't get the point of your post? You already know, right now, what is the best gaming chip so why do you need another video out of the dozens already on Youtube to do a comparison.

But do i know though? There's conflicting info out their at the moment which is why i said the 7700k "seems to be better". My point was, a video that doesn't compare ryzen to anything doesn't really sum up its gaming performance in a meaningful way.

What was the point of your post?

If there is conflicting info out there then this one video wasn't going to help no? The guy says right at the start what the video is all about.

Look, if you want to play games, and only games, and ones that are out now, and are not bothered about what will happen in 12-18 months and beyond, then get a 7700K and click it as high as you can.

Then in two years if you need more cores, buy a new PC...
