RYZEN DDR4 MEMORY, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

ASUS Crosshair VI
2x16GB Corsair Vengeance = No POST and 1F QCode.

2x8GB Corsair Vengeance = Boots fine, have set to 2666MHz @ 1.35V. All okay so far.

Hopefully I can use the 32GB kit soon. Any idea what the 1F code is?

Was the ram 3200?

Yes, both are. But largely irrelevant as it sets to 2133 and slack timings (SPD) anyway.

I tried 2 different boards including one the same as yours and neither would post with the same ram in but one would post with 16gig of 2400mhz in, the other refused to post at all.

"1F Bit F(15) first 64K RAM failure"

It's different depending on the BIOS but a 1F hang is almost always a RAM error.

Haha, that I already knew as the 2x8GB works. Was hoping the reading gave something a little more specific.

I'm using A1 and B1 at the moment, might try A2 and B2 as that's what ASUS said a while back.

can I ask a question please to a EXPERT...... (@8pack)
I have a 1700 sat here doing nothing, I have a asrock professional gaming fatality x370 (its got the same caps and mosfets as the asrock taichi) motherboard on the way (I hope) but am worried about the memory I have.
I have 2 16GB corsair sticks of 3200 memory CL16. I know this will not work immediately at this speed and will be subject to bios updates in the future but do we think it will even boot up and I can just run it at 2133 speeds with loose timings until the bios update arrives or is the general thoughts it wont even boot up? I don't think I can RMA the memory as had it too long... Im also pretty sure its dual rank memory.... Great.... Whats the experts opinion?

I'd be interested in the above as well as have never really played around with memory settings in a system. I want to make sure I buy the fastest but yet still compatible ram for a razen build.

Not an expert but I'm on Corsair CL16 3200 but 2x8 (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) and my CH6 booted after a bios update (usb stick bios update on the back) and with the newest bios I am running at 3200mhz. 2 x 16gb may be harder but would think 2666 or something would be possible.

~edit~ Elmor from Asus has said they have 2x16gb working at 3200 on an internal test bios at the moment. bottom of the post.

I find it amazing that they are having such issues with RAM.
Overclocking always brings issues. A lot of people seem to see "DDR4-3200" on the box and fail to realise that not only is it essentially running a factory overclock, but it's double the initial JEDEC DDR4 standard (DDR4-1600).

The JEDEC DDR4 standards are 1600, 1866, 2133 and 2400. Anything marketed as higher has an overclock SPD profile.

They just don't have the resources. The vendors are having to work 24/7 with this, and a lot of the stuff really should have been covered prior to launch. I think people's expectations on the memory side are starting to come down now, though.

Fair enough :) Thanks for the level setting.

I had hoped to see some performance tests with memory overclocking, is there a reference for that anywhere (a good review etc, or something Gibbo has mentioned?)

Now need to reapply overclock to cpu and test with realbench stress.

Elmor is working hard on the memory stuff on CH6 yes. I have had a couple of discussions with him on this stuff.

I did not try 32GB 2X 16 on asrock yet.

I can say it's stable with lower capacity not a problem. I will try this Monday my testing stopped simply because I am at EK HQ in Slovenia since Wednesday.

Will post back later after i have done some stress testing with overclock.......
