I find it hard to believe that OcUK are spending over 25 grand a year on hosting and it still seems to choke up.

OcUK isn't that big. You have 28,372 members. Many of which are inactive anyway, no longer post, banned etc, so your number of active users is much lower.

Probably about 20-25 thousand? A healthy number but they obviously aren't all on at once. Say about 1000 active users on average? If my dedicated server costing £25,000 cannot cope with that, then I'd be looking elsewhere. :)

I have to admit to not thinking about the "Actual" cost of running the server.
What i do think about though is my loyalty to OcUK when it comes to purchasing & promoting the Good name of the shop. I would hope all appreciate these boards enough to do the same in the way of positive promotion. You give me the boards & i give you my custom & push new customers your way as well.

the forums didn't make me buy my first lot of hardware from Overclockers (You have a guy named "Suicidal Steve" who I met on Xbox Live 4 years ago). But ensured my custom coming back and recommending you due to the face you 'see' on these forums.

£25k a year = :eek: though.

ranked 292 thats awsome in terms considering ocuk comparing it to the likes of sole purpose larger manufactrers (cant think of any bigger single component providers..... + thats in the world to + other types of forums)

When they have finished the tedious task of selecting which mind-boggling way to patch up search that they are going to use. There are some big decisions to be made so could be days or weeks... probably not months though ;)

Posts aren't trimmed on a weekly basis so that probably gives the best indication of the size of the forum, though I don't think there's been any trimming done in months.

was woundering for total post count although yeh the true weekly post would give better stats all in all 101 :eek: still not a bad figure !!!!

And stop anyone searching for hardware related inquiries. Making a large part of a hardware forum, useless.

If you have a search function it should work for the whole forum, not just one part.
 
Perhaps excluding the Life section from the Search function would be enough to lift the load. I haven't a clue what is involved though :confused: or whether it would make enough of a difference.
