S.T.A.L.K.E.R. FIRST PATCH HERE!

I've had one crash in stalker.

Thats when I accidentally switched off one of my pumps and the graphics card overheated a little.

Pump back on and 10 mins of cooling and it was fine again.

It's got bugs, but I can overlook them as I'm really enjoying the game. It's a bit easy to make money though.

Some of the weapons are very crap for sniper weapons too. Can't hit **** with them.

What the friggin hell is the point in making a patch where your saved games dont work  The patch only gives you the readme after you have installed it  now I have to start again !!!!! arrrrgghhh!!!
Or move the savegames to another folder, reinstall the game, move savegames to default folder and play unpatched.

ive not really had any problems with the game, apart from it refusing to work without a you-know-what. was a little slow untill i realise aa didnt bugger all and turned it off. in this case a monitor with a high dpi is pretty benficial, a 20.1" 5:4 is best, a 19" 5:4 being the worst lol

It may not be as polished as some titles but it is certainly worthy of some respect and not the sl***ing off it keeps getting from some people.

Anyone who takes £30 of my money for a product that doesn't work deserves, and gets, no respect whatsoever from me.

Its been plagued with bugs and all sorts of crap for 5 bloody years. This clearly shows that the team cannot do their jobs properly - simple as that.

Granted, there are always patches for games but at least you can play a V 1.0 game through without it crashing. (Mine, and many other people's here crashes within minutes).Far Cry, for instance, has had many patches (5 i think in total) which have served to add performance enhancements and extra features like SM 3.0, HDR, extra maps and multiple CPU support....NOT to get the bloody thing working out of the box.

Its the most expensive coaster I've ever bought!

An absolute total and utter disgrace.

I wonder is this crashing and general buginess only confined to Geforce 8 users? I know quite a few people with X1900/Geforce 7 cards who have no issues with the game.

Theres tonnes of users on X19XX cards with the same problem.

Its just crap.. if they knew what the problem was, it'd be fixed by now :p

EVERY other game and app works perfectly.

You are right about a few things, but on the other hand you could have read some reviews before buying the game where they clearly state the problems.

I have not had a single crash, CTD or BSOD with the game, V1.000 or V1.001 and that is with a Nvidia 8800GTS (with XP though), perhaps STALKER is very sensitive to system stability?

Also the fact Vista is not supported is very bad but again you could have known this before buying the game.

well i have the game but im waiting for a patch that sorts out these problems, because im not confortable with editing binary stuff and all that crap to sort it out.

Personally, I never had any crash problems or stability issues with the game. Yes, it lacks polish, yes there are some gameplay bugs but overall I think it's a very good improvement on the linear gameplay of other top FPS games. As for next-gen AI, I think the AI in this game is a vast improvement on other games and playing against NPCs feels a lot like playing a multiplayer game at times.

No problems here. Really enjoy the game. Shame about sniper weapons being so damn crap though.
I agree, a good rifle (like a GP-37) with a scope is just as effective and you can run with a rifle in your hand.

1) Its shouldn't be sensitive to system stability - They've had five years for god's sake!

2) All my other games work in vista - Vista code has been available for two years and they've had 5 years for god's sake.

3) Reviews were mainly done on preview code which "in no way reflects the final product/ release.

4)THEY'VE HAD 5 YEARS FOR GOD@S SAKE!!! :D

Nothing short of disgraceful.

Are all the people who are having problems using the latest DirectX distribution? If not, try updating with the April package released a few days ago, it may help. Personally I've had no problems with running the game whatsoever, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Well....intalled latest DX9........played for around ten minutes and got to the 1st mission of killing the guys at the car park. The phone rang so I pressed ESC to pause and got a BSOD saying that the process has caused a fault.

The disc is now half way up my garden.

Absolute bag of S.H.one.Tee.

To say I simply cannot be bothered anymore would be an understatement.

I think you need to take a chill pill and put this game aside until the third patch is released in 2-3 weeks ( you should be calmer then!!!)- hopefully your problems will be addressed. This game is not really that bad- It is possibly one of the best games iv'e played in a while (so addictive). :)

Lucky You :D Thats easy for you to say mate ;)

Maybe you'd be as unimperssed if I removed £30 from your wallet and replaced it with a dog turd lol :p

I'm prefectly calm (Honest)
