Safest place to sell

Since ebay got rid of their fees, they've killed the competition in my opinion as you're potentially reaching the entire nation (and beyond). Facebook marketplace was useful but that's always going to be limited to local people (or those willing to travel). I recently sold my 3080 on ebay and always sell my cards on there. Just make sure you take plenty of photos and videos of it working and being posted. Also look for good feedback from your prospective buyers.
That's all well and good, but it is still a huge uphill battle if the buyer claims your GPU doesn't work. Ebay sides with the buyer 9 times out of 10. I think i'd continue to risk it for sub-£500 GPUs, but no chance for a 4090 worth upwards of £1,000.

OCUK members market
AV Forums
FB marketplace
CEX

These are the only places I would sell a high end GPU.
No way would I use eBay or Vinted for anything worth £350+ let along £1000+

Those "seller fees" are back in February under the guise of "buyer protection fees". It's 4% + 75p per item up to £300 and then anything above is 2% up to £4000. Obviously sellers are going to undercut each other and eat up the cost of the fees so the buyer doesn't pay more.

I've never had issues selling on ebay, I even sold a GPU for over £1,000 in the covid boom (MSI Suprim X RTX 3070). I've sold well over 300 items since 2006 and nearly all of them are electronics or video games. I'm pretty careful as a seller though. I video the packing, photograph the parcel at the post office and always message the buyer before hand to gauge them. Any worries, I cancel. I always send pictures of the packaged item on dispatch too.

Reading this thread has given me a bit of fear though! I was planning to potentially sell my 4090 there as normal, but I'll have a think. CEX will give me £945 at the moment which is okay ish for a card I bought for £1499 just under two years ago.

I have x2 4090's which I'll need to sell once I get the the 5090's and I'm also unsure where to sell?

I have close to 1000 (100%) feedback on ebay and have sold expensive stuff on there before without issues but it does fill me with dread listing a costly GPU on there.
Prob a collect in person with a bank transfer would be the safest bet (clearly stated in auction) but I have found for higher value items, make it a Buy it Now listing and not an auction.

Selling here is impossible as despite a member for 5 years, I have 20 posts :)

FB market is horrendous but I did sell a 3090 on there which went ok.

CEX will prob be where I go but I imagine they will bring the prices down a lot as I guess many will go there to sell and they'll be swamped with them?

Yup collection makes sense, but what if the person wants to test it first, you gonna let them in your house?

Ebay collection is safest and easiest. Buy now + accepting offers will attract more people. However often this has less chances and takes longer than postage offering.

Postage sound scary but you can do on bidding format. This will allow you to block + remove any suspicious bidders (eg: less than 10 ratings) You can also deep dive through high bidder's profiles; what type of items they have bought, have they sold anything etc. to have an idea.

Pretty time consuming however selling +£1K item not expected to be easy I guess.

Just a warning. I thought I would give Vinted a go as some people are using it due to the new changes on Ebay and you can sell Electronics on there too, eg computer stuff etc. I signed up with full verification on my account. Before I even started to post an ad not 5 minutes after signing up I got a call from 2 scam phone numbers. 02081033139 and 02081033128 so I did a google search to confirm they were a scam phone number and coincidentally Vinted was named as one of the websites that had been used before getting these calls.

So it appears, allegedly scammers are getting my details off Vinted, even before I posted an ad. Needless to say I deleted my account straight away.

update: just as a test I created another account using my son's name and my parents address and another mobile number I have access to plus on a different device and again after about 10 minutes I got 2 calls from those numbers above. Deleted account again.
