I gotta be honest I have never watched the original nor read the book. So looking forward to seeing what all hype is about. It's meant to one of Stephen King's best book right?

Books great, the original series with David Soul was creepy as hell for its time.. vampires tapping on the windows etc. Probably hasn't aged well in this time of high budget event television.

This looks to hit all the right notes with a Mike Flannigan feel. King was reasonably complimentary on twitter so maybe.. ?

I remember when we we were kids a terrestrial showing (there was only terrestrial of course) of Salem's Lot was the "event televison" of our day.

its very much of its time, but that's part of the charm for me. tbh I'm getting a hankering to watch it again, been a good decade since I've seen it

The original gave me nightmares for weeks, it took me years to be able to watch it again.

Watched the original and I quite enjoyed it. As mentioned it was showing it time but still worth it if like me, you haven't watched it before. That's when vampires where actually frightening and looked dangerous.

I'm about an hour in and its not too bad, the floating kids are pretty weird and creepy. Probably the worst part for me is the bombastic 70's TV score, its very of its time.
