had mine for a few weeks now, only problem i seem to be getting is that the idle state of the phone. Few times I picked up the phone and left home only to find the battery was actually dead or when receiving a text and not noticing it because the screen is always off.

Not that I know of. I've had the phone for almost 2 weeks now and haven't come across any settings that might do it.
Ditto 4 me as well unfortunately, I just slide it open to check the time etc :)
Upgraded from a D500, very pleased with the phone, camera is especially good imo, video not too bad either for a phone.

I've only encountered that problem when I press the middle button to reply to a text message I have open.
For some reason, if instead you press 'options' then 'reply with text message', it should then open with already T9 enabled.

Just skimmed over the thread; some interesting views on it, thanks.

Is it worth going from the D500? There isn't anything wrong with mine as such, but wouldn't mind a change after 18 months :)

Got this phone to-day sim free for £250. Love it so far, just the one thing everyone else hate is that when you close it all you get is a blank screen. Anyone seen any settings to change this or maybe a firmware release will sort it?

sorry we are all stuck in the same boat, really bugs me though, occasionaly pick up the phone to find it's been turned on all night, and lost all charge.

I also have a strange problem where occasionaly when i turn it on i'm greeted with a message asking for pin, then it asks for me to enter the PUC code?!? Turning the phone off and on again seems to clear it though, just turns on as normal, very odd.

how do you set the phone to be on predictive text by default? every time i try to send a text its always reset itself normal text mode.
Its a quirk. If you turn predictive text on, it stays on (go on try) when writing a new message. If you reply to a text through, it defaults to ABC entry, and then this change replicates to new messages as well until you set it back.

As for missing text messaes, you can set the phone to beep every 2 min for unanswered text messages. Dead handy. press up on the volume for flash light is also handy.

I have read a comment on another forum that, yes, only either function is available, not both together (apparently it vibrates 3 times, then starts ringing?).

Samsung make this annoying, took me a while to work out what was going on with my P730.

Settings -> Sound Settings ->Alert Type
"Vibra + Melody" = Vibrates first, then ringtone starts. (What people choose after nokia phones)
"melody" = Ringtone. Set it to this.

The ringtones have vibration patterns programmed to them, so if you set it as melody, you get vibration that accompanies the ringtones.

Hi guys

My girlfriend has this phone and loves it but the camera is playing a up a bit. The slightest bit of movement results in the picture becoming extremely blurred. I have the W800i and my pictures come out fine so its not that I'm shaking like a...... pooing dog.

Are there any settings she should change on the phone? I don't understand most of the settings on there such as white balance, ISO etc.

Help is definitely appreciated as she really can't make the most out of the camera at the moment at all.

Thanks

It could be that you've got a duff phone or it could be that the shot seems to be taken a fraction of a second after the camera shutter sound.
I've taken some good pictures with my E900 but I do notice that what I see on the display as I press the shutter is NOT what actually comes out as the picture. It freezes the LCD picture but the actual photo is a fraction of a second later, so if you move after you *think* the photo is taken ........

Well when I've taken the picture using it, I keep my hand still till the image freezes on the phone. Is that what you mean? It still comes out blurry.

Bit frustrating :(

I've not seen anyone elses though so I don't have anything to compare it with.

It takes the picture after the screen freezes and what you see on the screen during the frozen period is not the picture that it takes.
