Yeah they do them now, they even have them in all the Orange shops now.

I tried phoning that Orange number, and the best they could give me is 300Mins & 500Texts for £30 a month, so I dont know how you managed to get that good deal for £5 less than they offered me.

What I am tempted to do is cancel this contract, and start a new one where I get a certain amount of months off the line rental charges.

Looking around, whats the best deal for this phone? There are so many and its hard to find what the most cost effective one is. Any ideas?

Umm...how about O2 Online 100 (150min xnet/750text messages), 25 quid p/m?

Phone Orange and tell them that you are leaving them - they might well offer you a good deal to keep you on.

Quick question, as I fancy buying an E900 to replace my P300. On the P300 you can only select tone or vibrate for ring tone, not both together. Is the E900 the same? Like the menu's etc on the P300, but the design of the case covers the loudspeaker, so it's virtually impossible to hear it ring when it's in a pocket.

two questions

when is this available on T-Mobile?
Can you block SMS's like you can on the D500/600 , as I get SMS about system issues in work and would be great to block them on a evening/weekend.

I have read a comment on another forum that, yes, only either function is available, not both together (apparently it vibrates 3 times, then starts ringing?).

I have this phone on order from O2 as an upgrade which should arrive tomorrow. However, I am starting to read more and more negative user reports about it on the internet, and now I am starting to have second thoughts! I might wait for the D900 instead...

Could you tell us what negative things you are hearing? I've had one fora few weeks now (since 2nd June so almost 4 weeks) and had no problems as yet.

Sure mate - some folk on the gsmarena boards were complaning about various things, but the common issues were:

The phone is easily scratched;

The controls are too sensitive and placed close together

Writing texts is a pain as the wrong buttons are being accidently being pressed;

Rubbish ringtones (but then again thats always been true with samsung phones i guess);

Unable to choose between 'phone' or 'sim' contacts;

I found the best deal that I can from Carphonewarehouse online. Its an Orange 18month contract, but you get 9 months free line rental, with 200mins anytime, and 575 texts :D

In my experience of the phone (which is oooh 4 weeks)

It is not "easily scratched", it is shiny though and will scratch if left in the same pocket as keys etc. It will require a slightly more careful owner than my old E700.

The touch sensitive bits are very sensitive, it was a fiddly pain to start with for me but it doesn't affect my use of the phone now.

Texting is perfectly normal - ie via the number buttons, you could accidentally touch a touch sensitive button and mess it up. I don't now that I am used to the phone.

Rubbish ringtones - Well ringtones are a bit subjective, I like plain old fashioned simple ringtones. Others like MP3's of pop music. You can import your own tones, so it is not a big deal.

Phone / SIM contacts - not sure why anyone would want to? Choosing a contact has not been an issue for me and I've not felt the need to choose between a SIM or Phone stored contact so I've not encountered that problem as such.

I'm not trying to defend the phone but I simply don't feel the "criticisms" are that valid. The touch sensitive aspect is the only one that is an issue that I've had. I would like a sensitivity setting option but don't really feel that I *need* one.

All in it is a nice phone but if you keep it in a pocket with keys it's going to look tatty quickly just because it is so shiny to start with.

Thank you for clarifying those issues VIRII :)

I am with you on the ringtone front- a simple 'ring ring' more than suffices for me! :D

With all the talk of the rubbish ringtones for this handset, are there any websites around that have working tones for this? Dont fancy wasting £3 for just 1 tone if you can get them for free elsewhere ;)

You can create your own. Samsung Fun Club have some - you can get a couple there for free. You can use MP3s. It comes with software to make your own as well.
What ringtone would you actually like?

I dont think the phone supports "true tones" but I do know it does do mp3 tones, and with polyphonic being old now mp3 tones seems to be the only way to go. But to get them on your phone how do you do it? Do you have to download them to your pc then upload them to the phone somehow?

The phone comes with a samsung to PC USB cable and samsungs own software.
The software has ringtone creators, picture editors, file transfer capabilities and so on.
I found it very easy to use and can simply fire files to the phone and back, edit pictures, stick music ont he phone and so on. Infact from the music folder you can select "set as ringtone" for any song if I remember correctly.
You could connect via bluetooth to your pc as well. That side of the phone is hadled very well I think.

Ordered a E900 on friday from O2, just phoned to find out where it is to be told that they are running back orders and mine should be out next week, he told me that they arn't accepting new orders atm until they have caught up.

Apparently i'll get a text when it leaves.

This appears to be quite a popular phone at the moment. I just got mine yesterday. It feels a lot lighter than my old Nokia phones that I have owned. Trouble is it has the words scratch me! written all over it. Would like to get a polycarbonate case for it if it existed.

What im wanting to know is that I bought and inserted a memory card for this phone, but it looks like its choosing the SIM card for all memory.
How do I choose the memory card instead?
