Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

My personal opinion after owning both phones is the I4 is the better phone, i thought the lack of Super AMOLED screen would be a downer but the high rez of the I4 screen is amazing after using me bro's G S i could see how inferior the screen was due to resolution, and if taking pictures is a big factor the camera on I4 is better and the HD recording is superior also.

I don't miss the I4 as i hated Itunes hate it with a passion but out of the 2 the I4 is a better phone but does have a higher premium also, the only thing i don't like about Android phones is they soon drop prices, look at the Iphone 3g still around £180 on ebay for the 8gb model that's insane money for the spec, i already seen Galaxy S go for £280 mark.

That's why I wouldn't really be fussed in paying a premium for an I4, for example. You pay more initially however they hold there value incredibly well. (Though I don't really sell phones, they lay around in a draw) but it's nice to know it's still worth something. The amount the old 2G iPhones go for is ridiculous!

JPK, just an estimate, but 10hrs of general messing around. 50 to 60%. The display is using less. I had noticed the recent Froyo builds used more display power. This is more like the 2.1 officials.

BTW, anyone looking for backplates. Found these in the UK £2 each on the bay, ABS shell with a glossy rubber paint.

Got a link to one of those?

Can anyone recommend a decent car holder/mount.

I've got a brodit for my n900, but i've just ordered a backplate type case for my Galaxy S, so the i don't think the brodit version will fit. So looking for a universal one really.

But i'm struggling to find one that doesn't look cheap, and flimsy.

Yeah just the XEE variant.

Received my phone this morning, impressed with the touch screen as it's my second touch screen phone having gone from the n97 which was so unresponsive. I just can't figure out how to exit applications because if I hold the menu key down it shows all the applications that I have recently used still open, it's annoying.

they close themselves with the back key, well the decently coded ones do.

T-mobile have said that they aren't releasing it till november.

"Some news on the update to Android 2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S. Currently we are making some changes to get it working better when using Orange signal, and are therefore looking to release the update by the end of November – obviously this is a delay on our original release date but we hope it will be worth the wait!

Kind Regards

Another quote from Samsung UK Mobile on FB

As some of you will have already seen we have started rolling out Android 2.2 Froyo for the Galaxy S in some countries in Europe. We are currently in the final stages of testing in the UK to ensure the upgrade is as smooth an experience as possible. We will have more information early next week about when we will start rolling out Froyo in the UK so please keep an eye for further updates.

Hi guys

I have updated to a FroYo version from samfirmware and am trying to run the OCLF but it's saying the root device is not supported for 2.2. What other way can I root?

Why does the phone have no flash player? is there a substitute flash player that I could use to load websites with flash.
