Dark Steel JP6/JPM, hardly any apps, 1 Exchange account.

I took the phone off charge at around 10am this morning, now at 6.30pm, down to only 16% left!!

Stats:

Display - 77%
Cell Standby - 17%
Phone Idle - 6%

I don't get this, the battery life is awful!! I've hardly used the phone today. Display brightness is set to absolutely minimum. 30 second timeout, and hardly used, so the screen has hardly been on!

Apps I have:

Flash 10.1
SetCPU
Remote Desktop
LauncherPro
Smart Keyboard Pro
ROM Manager
SGS Tools
Spare Parts

Plus the normal Maps, Navigation, Flash.

GPS Off. 1 Exchange account set to Push. Gmail sync turned off. Bluetooth used for around 30 minutes.

Please help me!!!! I've tried 3 different batteries by the way, so it's not that!

How many charge cycles does it need to sort itself out after deleting battery stats (deleted via clockworkmod recovery)?

If you flash your phone it sometimes messes with the battier settings so you have to reset it cause that is running out to fast. I didnt charge my phone for like 30hours, 3g on most of the time good 2 hours of tv shows, 2 hours music. 2 hours phone calls and it just hit 15%.
 
I'm having a problem with any market downloads saying 'download unsucessful' in the download manager. Don't know why but I've tried clearing various application caches and it's still not working?

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Scratch that, seems to have decided to work now.

Ah, well I got one app installed and it's doing it again. Not sure how to fix it.

EDIT: And just like that it's back.

How did you reset yours.

My old Omnia 900 had to have full battery to flash.
 
You dont need to run the commands do you to reset the battery?

If you use clockworkmod doesn't it have an option to reset battery status in the menu?
 
I was just messing about with the music I'd put on my 16GB SD card and I noticed that Winamp was saying that all the mp3 files are 128kbps...which is odd because I never download anything at 128kbps.

How is this possible, or is winamp lying to me?
 
My contract on my HTC Magic running out shortly and am interested in the Galaxy S but have heard there are problems with very short battery life and poor GPS performance. Do user agree these issues exist and did anyone wish they picked a different phone.
 
Poor gps is correct but the battery thing is rubbish, its got one of the best battery lives out of the modern smartphone. No way I can get two days of usage out of my desire with some use of the phone, my brother and friends with a galaxy both can.
 
Gps was dodgy on the Galaxy s, but this was due to the default operating system the phone has. Put a decent rom on, hey presto. Battery life is on par with the current bunch of smart phones.
 
I don't this poor GPS performance. I have used it a few times with Google Nav to get me places in the car, I get a lock on almost instantly which I find amazing!! Lock kept for the entire 1 hour journey with no mistakes etc!
 
GPS used to be bad but now its as good as all my friends phones. The battery is much better than all the other phones, compared to my friends desire I can easily say my battery is 2 times better, we wake up at the same time for uni by like 4pm my friend might have 50-30%, I can have up to 75% left or mroe.
 
I personally wouldn't class the GPS as good with any rom on my galaxy s, and I've used every latest rom that's been leaked 2.1 and 2.2 since I got the phone. It's acceptable for walking but I have yet to find any rom where GPS is acceptable for driving.

In fact I use my old t-mob pulse as a sat nav the GPS is infinitely better on it. The phone is awesome don't get me wrong but the GPS is just broken.

Just to add, its not about getting a lock, it does that quite quick. However it has poor snr, low number of sats connected, and just a horrible inaccurate lag. Check on xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722476

Consensus seems to be that the gps chip is poorly placed next to RF chips so I dont hold out for a proper software fix.

They seem a bit variable phone to phone, my GPS has always been great. With the JP6 build mine locks on in seconds even indoors, multiple satellites and stays locked. Accurate to around 16ft to 30ft usually.
 
I onlyuse to have problems with GPS in door, since the first day i got it works perfectly while driving, it was as good as my friend tom tom and for a 2 hour driving didnt drops once Im guessing it depends on the phone like fornowagain said.
 
I'm on JF3 and the GPS is turd. I need to be up a mountain without a cloud in the sky for it to work. I've tried a few of the fixes but nothing has improved it. I'm going to patiently wait for 2.2 and see if that helps things, if not it's going in the bin!
