Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Hey guys, my headphones are starting to fail on me. One side died a few months back and the other is making some funny crackling sounds so I was wondering where the best place to get a replacement is. I would just use any old headphones but this phone is kinda weird with headphones so I was thinking it was best to get offical set.

The official earphones are rubbish, as the parts which bend are prone to bending at sharp angles that the wiring inside probably tears.

Hi all,

Very sorry if this is a stupid question but its got me worried. A few weeks ago I downloaded "Photo Editor" from Samsung Apps on my Galaxy S. Today I read one of the infected apps that has the DriodDream virus is called Photo Editor.

I am hoping the one I got off Samsung Apps is safe? Please can someone confirm mine is ok as its got me worried. Also how can I check the publisher of my version of Photo Editor? I can't seem to find any details on it in application manager. All it says is "Photo Editor V1.0"

Thanks.

I tried UltimateGinger 1.3 by webstar which is a rom based on the latest gingerbreak leak.

To sum it up everything works, but i did have several complete lock ups of the phone leaving me to take the battery out. Also it was considerably slower than darkys 9.3 which ive been running.

It felt smooth but slow and lacked some of the snappiness im used to.

The only real benefit i could see was the cool standby screen effect, that was it.

My advice would be to wait till things progress a bit further! It really aint worth the effort just yet,.

I'd contact Samsung - it should be under warranty right?

Okay I'll give them a call on Monday, thanks.

I know they suck but there isnt much option as most others wont have a working mic :S.

If an app comes from a trusted source then it will be fine. Samsung's own app store really should be safe. However I can't see the program on mine

Is the gps going to be fixed in official 2.3 or is it a hardware issue?

I would lean towards hardware issue, though there really are lots of mixed reports out there. Some people send their phones back for a replacement, then GPS is flawless (apparently). It's really hard to say for sure, though as DIABLO rightly says, if there were a software fix, Samsung would have released it by now.

Well since ive been on 2.2 my gps has been great most of the time. Inside my house its a bit funny but in my house my old phone straggled to even get a signal so I think thats to blame. At uni I get a lock quiet fast and to around 20feet. When I'm out and about it locks mostly as fast as my friend with a desire.

So far Ive found JPY, JPM to have the best gps set.

Running Darky 9.3, my first ROM on the galaxy S, makes it such a more usuable phone, I was considering getting rid of this phone due to its laggy nature and crashes, now i love it

Anyone having problems with their galaxy s not recieving test messages, until you reboot the phone, I thought I had fixed it by installing darky 9.3 but its still doing it every so often :@

After trying everything over the last 4 months I have come to the conclusion that it must be some software issue.
Co-Pilot works flawlessly where everything else is hit & miss.

I don't have any GPS issues. It weird that people are when my phone is the same.
Copilot and Maps work great for me. Camera even fills in the GPS location perfectly too.

Like I said, I'm sure it's software.
For instance when on Navigation I get to exactly the same location and my blue icon suddenly jumps to about 100 yards to the left and after a few 100 yards it comes back to the correct place.
I drive about 2 miles to Penkhull Road and once again in exactly the same place my blue icon jumps about 100 yards to the right.
Once again I drive 200 yards and it comes back.
Going home exactly the same thing happens in exactly the same place.
I've also come across several more of these Navigation/maps errors but when I put Co-Pilot on I have no problems.

I think it might be hardware related, my mate has same phone, we both got the very first batch out and always had similar roms, while on 2.1 both are gps sucked but mine was a bit better e.g get a lock in doors but 500 meter accuracy. But since I've updated to 2.2 I always get a lock and he still never gets a lock in doors and out doors its just so bad but we have the same roms (currently darky 9.3), same modem and everything but still mine is miles ahead.

My gps was usless before I updated to 2.2.1, now it's fine. I keep thinking about going down the custom rom route, but it all looks a bit too complicated to me. Plus I don't know if it will bugger up my currently working gps.

I use mine for running and it doesn't appear to be very accurate at times.
Did a 5k run which was properly marked out my phone had me 0.5k further!

Is there anyway to change the SMS tone to something not standard?
