Samsung Galaxy S24 Family Thread

Having an issue with my S24+ where when the battery drops below 30% or so, it'll just randomly die and need a force reboot to turn back on, and, when it does, it'll be at 0%. Could it be because I have battery protection set to adaptive?

I am using dark mode but the notification tray has a grey background, instead of black.

Is there a way to make the notification tray background black?

Has anyone else with an S24 found that their media controls have vanished from Google Maps?

They were working a few days ago but they've disappeared. I've tried googling and found mention of a 'show media controls' option that should be in the navigation settings within Maps but that option is missing too?

Hi guys,

Keep getting a 'eqstate.eq' file appear in my files. I delete but it reappears again later... 55kb in size, always.

Any idea?

I've used the two screen protectors that came with my phone, which were excellent! I only used the second one because I accidentally peeled the first one off with my nail when putting my hand in my pocket :(

My wife's S24U that she got on launch looks a mess like above. I've caught her using her glasses wipes on it though, and I have seen what they do to actual optical lenses after many uses so probably due to that.

What are you saying, that the lense wipes have damaged your wife's phone? I use Zeisse spray cleaner and a decent glasses cloth and I can't say I've noticed it's had any detrimental effect on my device?

Yea, I used to use the ones that had alcohol in them (70-80% iirc) and over time damaged the coatings on my specs. Now I just use a spray that doesn't contain alcohol and a good quality microfiber cloth. My wife is adamant that the alcohol doesn't damage it, thinks my experience is BS and continues to use them out of convenience and her glasses and phone screen look like they have oil slicks on them. Not very scientific, but I keep alcohol to a minimum on anything with coatings on and only really use it for prepping screens for screen protectors.

I even used 99.9% IPA (not beer :D) to rub off the coating on a Garmin Fenix Sapphire screen that had been scraped.

Ah, yeah, I would never use anything with alcohol in it for screens etc. My mate once ruined the finish on his brand new flat screen monitor once with the 99%+ stuff... there's a time and place for it sure, but not on stuff that has a finish.

I'd only use alcohol on displays (and spectacles!) sparingly, very occasionally. The alcohol will removing any coatings on the surface, and if allowed, will seep into the glue around the screen and dissolve it. I only use a damp then dry microfibre cloth to clean monitors and TV screens, never needed any solvents etc.
