Samsung Galaxy S24 Family Thread

I've got no issues with the colours. They are not as vivid as my S22U but they are a lot more realistic. Once they've fixed the bug I might move away from the vivid setting and over to natural.
Agreed I like the more realistic colours , vivid on Samsung was so over boosted over the years that it wasn't realistic

Someone posted on HUKD that they fixed the screen colours issue by resetting the settings under General Management - Reset.

Off work today and clear case delivered so will finally boot mine up for the first time and start setting it up, let's see..

Which clear case did you go for? I am looking for 1 for future. Usually I go for Spigen

I'd treat the reset option with care as it could wipe more than that poster says it does, I'll wait for a software fix, it's fine/usable as is.

Using a LK glass screen protector and the fingerprint sensor is not great. Have to really press hard and target pressing in the exactly the right place
Add your finger again ( so it's there twice)

And switch on extra touch sensitivity in the settings

Has really helped

Just in case anybody are about to buy a phone, and need a £50 discount code + screen protector + case, I've got one spare.. It can only be redeemed against a new phone, not accessories.

Got the 24+ for the wife arrived yesterday and set up. Colours are indeed washed out. The colour does change if i switch between natural and vivid but its barely noticeable. Anyway dont mind the muted colours. Overall feels better in the hand than her previous s21u. Very i-phoneesque. Still waiting for the ultra to arrive since it was a 1tb grey variant its been delayed to the 8th.

On the S24SAVE code, i think it only works if you dont add in a trade-in. And yes no watch anymore. The initial discounts were too good ended up shelling out only £360 for the upgrade to a 512 s24+ after trading in a 256 s21u and adding all the other discounts and selling the watch. So great deal overall.

"Samsung Anti Reflecting Screen Protector" we got free with phone - is it a film or glass?

Seen people here saying it is cutting skin / sharp at edges and doesn't fit well - but on the box it looks like a film (it's folded back on itself in the pic) and on the website I'm sure it said film

Will wait to open mine until I get some replies back from people who already have haha

It's a plastic film but it doesn't go to the edges, so if you swipe in from the very side it does catch you. I don't have this issue as I never used the side swipe things anyway.

So i went into currys this morning to have a look at the S24 phones. They had the S24+ and S24 ultra literally side by side so the exact same lighting conditions. Only camera I could test was the selfie cam because the phones are clamped to the bench. Weirdly the pictures on the S24+ looked sooooo much better than the S24 ultra?! I don't know if it because the colours popped on the screen more but even my mrs who is useless with tech said they looked miles better. Very strange, was a really stark difference

Wowsers I forgot how bad the videos etc end up looking when shared to WhatsApp. They can't handle the hdr etc from android phones. Washed out/blown out is the way. Awful. Not Samsung problem in particular just android.

One is after WhatsApp upload other is played on Samsung. This isn't an issue with Apple for example and I believe wouldn't be an issue on android if hdr is disabled for video recording

@grudas

I just sent a video clip over WhatsApp on the Pixel and other than lower bitrate and lower res it looked fine. No blown out highlights or change in colours etc.

Edit. Shot in non HDR.

Edit 2. Just tried a fresh HDR video I shot and sent over WA and still no issues.

I'm trying to understand if it's just my end that makes the video look like this or if it's the same both ends / after WhatsApp processing

That was 60fps and just had confirmation from my mates that it looks awful their end too :/
Okay. Just tried a new 60fps record and send and it's fine again. I couldn't do hdr as it's not an option on with 60fps on pixel.
