Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Tablet

Wouldn't you rather have the 10.1 size, or do you want both?

7.7 seems like a good size to me sitting mid way between a phone and a laptop. I like the iPad but it's too close to my Air in terms of size and portability. It will be interesting to see how it is priced.

I'm going to be swapping my iPad 2 for this when it comes out (if Exynos is inside). App market should have matured by then and I've always preferred the Android ecosystem.

A 10 inch tablet is only really useful for pdf/ebook reading imo. The most important factor for web browsing has been the resolution rather than size as the ppi on tablets isn't high enough to be of concern.

edit:

I should add that I had the the first Galaxy Tablet before getting an iPad and the form factor is perfect. The problem was that 600 pixel width wasn't really good enough for viewing books or web pages as they are usually designed with at least 1024x768 in mind. Gingerbread on a tablet wasn't great either.

I picked up a 7" Tab couple of weeks ago and is much easier to hold and use than an iPad. This with the higher res, SAMOLED+ will be the perfect upgrade.

Now I just have to decide between this and Sony's new HMZ-T1 visor :)

That makes so much sense. Now I can see that just because the product is big physically, doesn't necessarily mean it can fit more onto the screen. I wasn't even thinking of it this way before.

...This has opened my eyes completely to this 7" model. I can already see why I think I would benefit more from it, given what I'd be using it for.

Cheers! :)

lol welcome onboard :p.

Another thing I want to know if this thing really has a plus screen (RGB striping) instead of a petile matrix (non plus).

My want for a Touchpad has completely died.... I've got better things to spend my money on now :)

Even at the expensive price it will be released at, I'd me more than happy forking it out, just to have something as good as this.

I can't wait!

Amusing how in the two articles on Engadget they mention that the CPU in the device is like the other device. Just lack to specify which CPU it is exactly.

In terms of the larger tabs, I would disagree that they're mainly for ebook/pdf. I'd say the smaller form factors are best for that. In fact I would still maintain that a dedicated ebook reader on eink is still best.

I'm quite enjoying the bit of random browsing and watching movies in hd during my lunch on my 10.1 :)

If i am correct, they've also announced a 5.3" Phone variant? Galaxy Note seems to be rumours of the name but im not sure myself :)

But if this 7.7 comes in at the right price, and at the right time, might bag myself one :)

Yes it smaller version to make easier to pocket,etc.. but no point to replace if you own 10.1 -- it not replacement for 10.1 - just for anyone to use for easy to pocket. I keep my 10.1 as it great stuff,etc.. 10.1 will get Honeycomb 3.2 when it release

The Note runs Android 2.3, not Honeycomb, but if both devices get upgraded to the new "ice cream" version then there won't be much difference.
