*** Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G Thread***

Yeah i saw that being listed at £1799. £100 cheaper i believe than the first fold at launch. While obviously expensive its good to see they have lowered it compared to the first fold. Anyone tempted?

As long as 'foldable' phones have screens that fold, leave a noticeable crease and have the chance that grit and other detritus could get into the mechanism I would not be happy parting with nigh on two grand.

Well, a one a piece UTG screen has to fold. If you want a non fold screen your only option is a dual display phone a la LG's and MS' recent Duo offering.

The crease is quite noticeable when the screen is off but you tend not to notice it much when it's on.

The first Fold before the recall, left itself open to dirt etc but the revised version does a dam good job at preventing this. The Z Flip does an even better job.

Yes, the prices are high, it's still an early adapters device.

Well, I have to say I'm impressed. Good app support by the looks of things, I'm pleased to see Google & Microsoft apps included in that.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one.

It looks really good to be fair, it's the first device for years that's got me interested in smart phones again.

£1549 with a £250 trade in on my Note 8 too which is pretty good.

I'm struggling to find the complete spec list (want to make sure they're not sneaking an exenos in there!) Is it because I'm viewing the Samsung site on mobile?

I must admit I'm tempted and impressed from what I've seen. They will give me 550 for s20+. I paid 650 for it in March through work. I hate exynos in this phone, but its still over 1k to shell out for me. I probably don't hate exynos that much

While I think Samsung have to be applauded for their innovation and as much as the Fold 2 looks like a great device, I don't really want one. For my personal use case, when I'm out of the house I don't want a device that can become tablet sized. When I'm in the house I'd buy a dedicated tablet if I wanted one.

For anyone interested. In the trade in section if you have an older phone. Like me for example with a note 4. You can select the trade in a broken phone option and it lets you trade in any old phone and get £150 off the price. So trading in my ancient Galaxy note 4 brings the total to £1649

The conditions for a broke phone aren't that broken:
  • Phone powers on and holds charge
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Functioning display and no cracks in the screen

I want one but its still £1649, which is just too much. If they included the wireless buds and case like they did with the previous model, it might have sweeten the deal.

£1800 for me,which obviously isn't making it an impulse buy. Currently I have a P40Pro plus which they'll give me peanuts for, so that's not even a consideration and also a Mi10 ultra on it's way, again which they'd give me £75 for lol.

I might wait and see if O2 get stock and see if their refresh option allows me to purchase the phone outright for a lot less than £1800, alternatively wait for a discount code from Sammy. (long wait).

I've also got 1k in Amazon credit after some returns but was/am intending to leave that for next gen consoles.
